@arnie_dxer They're non-binary so maybe monarch would be better? ☺️

@velobetty I present to you Jadwiga, the king of Poland in 1384-1399 🙃

@arnie_dxer "[Jadwiga] was the first woman to be crowned as monarch of the Kingdom of Poland"

@velobetty in Polish we have feminine forms of many nouns describing professions, and this includes a king.

👨👑 król
👩👑 królowa

Yet in chronicles, Jadwiga is described as "król Polski" 🤨

Yes, it does prompt objections even here, but that's how the history looks like 🤷‍♂️

@arnie_dxer Sure, but I wouldn't have commented on a post in Polish because I don't speak it.

In English "king" is a male noun and given the person is non-binary using the non-gender specific noun "monarch" is more appropriate.

@velobetty OK, we do have a "monarcha" in Polish too, although I guess some would rather feminize it as "monarchini" 😂

FYI, although I try to respect it, personally I don't believe in non-binarism. It seems to be a (very) new thing in Poland too. So don't get mad at me if I continue to call whoever looks like a man a man, and whoever looks like a woman a woman 🤠
