@KweVictoria it’s been in our yard for about 17-ish years and I have no idea. It doesn’t produce fruit or anything. It just brings us joy when it blooms every spring for a couple of weeks. I should find out.
I lived in South Carolina for part of my childhood. There were lots of wild dogwood trees (mostly white, some pink) in the woods in that area. Plus the trees that people planted as part of their landscaping (we had one).
There are so many varieties of dogwood - different colors and shapes of flowers/leaves - but the flower always has 4 petals.
