Thanks to my friends at @freepress I got to ask Rupert Murdoch this question during the 2011 quarterly con call. After the call was over, it turned out 100s of advertisers wouldn't advertise on Beck's show. And since big investors hate losing money, they forced Rupert to fire him.
This was a part of the Spocko Method, which is designed to weaken RW media financially.
