Is there any FOSS #FileManager for Windows 10 that isn't super slow and unreliable, has double panels and tabs?
I've tried #Files, #Spacedrive and #DoubleCommander but each of them either can't do basic operations without crashing or requiring me to wait a few seconds.
I thought switching from HDD to M.2 SSD will help - I did not.
#WindowsExplorer sucks - no dual view, no tabs... But all other options fig. make me want to punch the screen.
@unfa not a Windows user, but Emacs has dired, a decent file manager that works on all the platforms. It can edit files and directories remotely too via tramp.
@unfa The classic dual view option would be TotalCommander but it's not FOSS. Does FileZilla allow you to view local files on both sides and not just the left one? You can obviously put two Explorer windows side-by-side, which is what I would use. The Explorer in Windows 11 has tabs but using multiple windows instead is still my habit.
@draco Well, the problem is that there is no integration with the rest of the desktop. I don't suppose I could drag'n'drop to/from it, use Window's context menu options on files etc.
Spacedrive and Xplorer look cool, but don't integrate with the desktop, making them very inconvenient to use.
So far Explorer++ seems like the best option. It's fast, it's well integrated and has tabs. No dual panels though.
