finthechat, in Sources confirm NHL players facing charges in sexual assault investigation | TSN

Months of speculation are finally over. It's crazy that all of these guys' names had already surfaced via logical deduction anyway.

Note: Alex Formenton (former NHLer) was the first player to turn himself in a few days ago, which is why his name isn't included in this article specifically.

Avs fan here! We face a few major hurdles going into the offseason

  1. Gabriel Landeskog (our 1C) is out of commission for the full season

  2. JT Compher (our 3C) is gonna be looking for big money

  3. We have not yet found a viable replacement for Kadri (our former 2C)

Long story short... we don't have any centers.

The bright side is that JT Compher is likely to underperform any contract we sign with him, but trading him to a team that's willing to develop a player over the long run could get us a great return... so picking up someone like Jonathan Toews or Kirby Dach seems like a real possbility.

In addition, the fact that we know that Landeskog is out could benefit us immensely... it frees up $7 million in cap space that we can use on a serviceable 1C, such as Ryan O'Reilly. Since the cap is expected to skyrocket going in to the 2024-2025 season, we might even be able to keep both Landeskog and the new guy.

Finally we still have a solid core and a promising young goalie who likes playing for us. I think the 23-24 season will go well for us overall.

(Blues fan) we desperately need to offload one or some of our underperforming, overpaid D-man. Leddy or Krug are probably top of my list, with Scandella also needing to go but unlikely to have many buyers. I'd also like to add a goalscorer but defense is the priority.

So we're what, two years in..has the Krug experiment been a bit of a mistake?

He's really been injured quite a bit, but when he's been healthy he hasn't been very good. Bit of a shame because I was optimistic when he came over.

I wonder how much he benefited from playing in that Boston system.

iNeedScissors67,

He had better defenders with him to help cover his pressing into the offensive zone. The Blues defense was absolutely brutal last season. Parayko seemed lost out there and I think that had a big ripple effect on the whole D core.

Personally I'd rather get rid of colt. I was the biggest colt apologist for forever, but he's just plain bad. He plays like he's 5'4 and weighs 120lbs when his size should be one of his greatest assets. Nothing is going to change that.

This has to be it for Phil, right? Would be a hell of a way to walk away from the NHL: played all 82 regular season games, all-time Iron Man streak, 3x Stanley Cup champion, won on his last season.

Congratulations Vegas. I'm not sure I remember watching a final that felt more certain after the first game; they never looked like losing.

I've got to think Florida takes some lessons from this defeat. They looked outmatched and at times seemed to lose their heads. Perhaps next year....

Now that it’s over, looking at the playoffs final bracket compared to everyone’s prediction is pretty funny. The two most popular champ picks both got knocked out in the first round (bos & col) then everyone’s new popular champ got knocked out by Vegas (edm) paired with Florida going through a gauntlet.

I just wish the Canes, my team, had Svech for their run. This really felt like the year that the cards were dropping in their favor but then again I don’t see them beating that Vegas team. Will be an interesting off-season in Raleigh

I was disappointed when Vegas beat my Winnipeg Jets -- though perhaps it was deserved for our team -- and I ended up watching a lot of Vegas games in what was some sort of Stockholm syndrome. It was pretty easy to see they were going to go the distance. By and large, every team they played against had to fight tooth and nail to play to their level. They had players delivering in every single game and a relentless offence. With Florida fighting hard and struggling for their victories, it really felt like this was Vegas' series to win. And it was; Florida struggled to contain the sheer offensive power of the Knights and Hill played better than Bobrovsky.

We'll leave all the cap shenanigans out of it. I think it's absurd that the NHL drops cap restrictions in the playoffs. But the reality is I think Vegas would have won with or without Stone. A rock-solid team that earned it.

That was a convincing end to a series. Congrats Vegas

What a good game and a hell of a team! The few games I attended this season were all great to be honest!

That was a hell of a performance by Vegas, especially after the Florida goal in the second period. The just took control of the game, and left them unable to do anything until it was too late.

I feel really happy for Marchessault winning the Conn Smythe: really deserving, and an original Golden Knight. Hell of a ride for the guy.

Agreed. Florida just sort of rolled over and died. Shame, this looked like it was gonna be a helluva finals.
