robla,

The Center for Election Science is looking for an Executive Director (or rather "CEO" is what they're calling it now). It's a non-profit that could use some diversity in its upper ranks. @brainwane : I'm especially interested in what you think that "" (or ) should do, but really many of my -based friends would probably be good choices https://electionscience.org/about/careers-and-board/

@robla You mean, what do I think they should do to recruit effectively?

robla,

@brainwane - recruiting effectively for a tough CEO/ED who can broker between staff and the board is one aspect of it (and I'd certainly relay your thoughts about that to them if you're willing to share). Another aspect: rumor has it that the current board believes the organization can scale quickly to $10MM/year, possibly this year. WMF was at $10MM/year when I joined, so I know roughly what that looks like. My hunch is that they should set their goal for the coming year at $3MM/year, because I don't think they're ready for a $10MM/year run rate. According to their website (here: <https://electionscience.org/about/transparency/>), they were a $1.4MM/year organization in 2022. In a just world, the Center for Election Science would have a similar budget to FairVote, but that's not the world we live in. I think we'll be nearing the end of Biden's second term before CES/C4ES has a $10MM/year budget and the staff to support that kind of funding (if that ever happens).
