@cendawanita The last thing anyone needs is that F*k Zuckerberg here in the fediverse. I just got here after leaving spez's imploding site - getting Zuck instead is a demon nightmare of harvesting data at a level that spez could not imagine. I'm too new here to know what P92 is but whoever is executing an NDA needs to have their access cut off or at least fenced in and then the project needs to be attacked like a biologic against a cancer growth.
@gentleman couldn't agree more. I don't think they'll do a massive hit on fediverse qua fediverse but the way they build shadow profiles even on non-fb users is a major redline for me
This is very interesting. Some clever people are playing with the system:
We already have a kitchen and staff available. We can attract some higher price range customers (and higher profit margin) if we give more meat and prettier boxes, and use a different business name that is not related to our mid-price business.
Where it gets insidious is when a single shop use multi terminals, spamming the marketplace. Customer donât realise that the vast choice they see on the platform are actually them getting more of the same, and platform owners donât mind because it makes their platform look thriving.
I think thatâs actually quite common. Not only on food delivery etc, but also in consumer goods. Like, a standard factory that churns out peanut butter. The one with a certain brand label sells for RM 15 per jar but the one with a supermarket brand label sells for RM 9 per jar.
Even iPhone is also doing similar things to maximise profit. Back when things were simpler, they only sold iPhone n (instead of standard, pro, promax, mini etc) and the only variation available was the internal memory size. Memory size is literally a tiny memory chip that donât cost much, but they can sell the bigger memory iPhone at a HIGH price to maximise profit from people whoâs ok with spending, and sell smaller memory iPhone at a lower price so that they donât lose the people who cannot afford to spend tons.
Airline tickets are also a good example of market segmentation. If you sell one price, you canât earn extra from the spendy people and you canât sell to the poor people. So you make many different tickets with slightly different advantages, and now the spendy people can buy the expensive tickets, and the poor folk can buy the cheap no-changes and no-refunds kind of tickets.
All the above examples (peanut butter, iPhone, air tickets) are quite normal example of market segmentation that sometimes appear in text books.
You can see that in other areas too. Same Toyota Vios with hugely different price, the difference being add ons that donât cost that much (bigger wheels, side skirt, painted door handles, reverse camera)
Yeah, heard about that yesterday, dunno what to feel about this because i've just been here for like what, 3 days? I only kinda know how instance works but not sure why it works.
But anyway, can we just defederalise meta if that happen? Is that possible?
@Annoyed_Crabby oh absolutely possible, part of the pact linked above is having that as a next step. I'm working on building an aggregation of posts from today on my personal magazine just for ppl to get up to speed. Later will update.
@PositiveNoise absolutely, threadiverse protocols like kbin and Lemmy is a vector for exposure risk because they aggregate links. In kbin even untagged fedi posts go to the 'random' magazine on kbin.social
Sorry about that. Itâs a known issue for server not based in the west, as currently lemmy only process federation queue one thing at a time, and with how big lemmy.world is theyâre flooding the federation queue on our side. What make it worst is the distance between us and their server, it take more time for us to process their federation queue than those instance thatâs nearer in location with lemmy.world. This kinda result on us having delayed content sync for about a few days behind. Aussie.zone also suffered from this.
Words is, theyâre fixing this problem next update and itâs coming pretty soon, so gonna have to hold up till then :/
I did that some times ago and itâs awesome seeing how the crew change, and also the pacing is just better when you read it in one go vs wait for chapter every week + break. I think people have problem with Wano because of that.
Man, i really do hate some eatery that gave too big of a portion and charge more. People will justify the price because of the portion, but iâd rather they give half of that and price it cheaper. Itâs no wonder Malaysia is high in obesity and heart disease.
I donât think it is the eatery. Nowaday, people bundle stuff together and sell whole package, or combo promotion.
So, to get the thing you need, you got to buy some you donât
If you are the person who go supermarket to buy supply for family, you know what i am talking.
Hmm, itâs not a particular eateries, but in general those nasi beriani place tend to have this sort of problem, also those charge more than rm12 for a meal. The portion always so off it result in overeating.
Finally finished Fallout TV series, dang itâs one respectful adaptation. Well, except that one big detail regarding one location. Otherwise, itâs 8/10.
Itâs honestly annoying that Halo canât be as faithful as this one or the last of us, they have to make a âreimaginingâ of the beloved story.
Last weekâs 5 day holiday was awesome. Donât know if weâre ever getting that again. I do wish we work only 4 or 3 days a week. Thereâs more to life than working.
