My Framework 13 Laptop is now operational =) I created this quick little note/write-up with some pics if anyone is interested in checking out the setup.
I agree, the speakers are a bit underwhelming. But, I don’t use my laptop for consuming a bunch of media, I have TVs and radios/speakers for that. I mostly use it to watch the occasional youtube video when trying to sort something out so sound quality isn’t as important.
I quite like the screen, but I see what you’re saying. Similar to the speakers, the lack of contrast isn’t a big deal to me. If I were watching a lot of movies or playing games that would probably be a real bummer. For scrolling the web, writing, and checking email it is more than adequate.
Glad you are enjoying it otherwise! Perhaps they’ll offer upgraded screens and speakers in the future, being repairable and all…
Yeah don’t get me wrong, overall i’m happy with it and they definitely aren’t deal breakers, there are other positives which make up for these downfalls. Just some areas of potential improvement.
Even just a few grill holes in the chassis so they’re top firing speakers might help.
I got some comments like this - floss.social/. Also some snap and Unity complaints. I don’t have anything against Ubuntu, in fact I’ve always enjoyed using it in the past. Fedora has been nice so far though.
To be clear, Unity ain’t why i didn’t choose Ubuntu, that’s just what others commented. My reasons are articulated in my note 😁. So if anything you’re making fun of some other folks haha.
@shellsharks yeah, not a fan of the way snap sucks disk space. But went with it for laptops because of Steam support. Still Fedora on server so have feet in both camps too
