Would there be a possibility to login from your local instance and subscribe to them from there? Or am i missing out something? Do i have to copy the name, go on lemmy.dbzero.com/c/whatever@wherever and subscribe then? Or is there a more easy way?
If you search for 'whatever' selecting 'All' and you don't get the community, you have to search for the whole thing !whatever, and after a little bit it will appear searching for the keyword.
You're not missing something, lemmy is missing the functionality.
You need to be logged into your own instance to subscribe. When you click communities, you can see comms from other instances by clicking "All" - however you will see everything. You can't even sort this list, you just have to scroll through or search. If you're looking to discover new comms, you'll have to browse elsewhere (eg go to another instance and look at their local communities) so you know what to search for from your own instance.
What we need is the ability to filter the "All" communities list by instance. That way you can browse things better and discover new comms to sub to.
I know this isn't exactly a help forum or on-topic, but is anyone able to assist with a basic lemmy question related to the thread subject? Many communities listed on community searches (both this one and the feddit.de browser) don't appear in the community search on the instance I'm signed up on (feddit.nl). Whether it's via keyword, !community format, or full URL, they show up in community search sites but not on the instance search despite it being set to all communities. It's also my understanding that the feddit.nl instance federates with all other instances and isn't blocked by any other instances. Is there something I'm doing incorrectly on my end?
