I don't use tail guards, but that's mostly because I don't freestyle much. Right now, my only freestyle board is a Bustin Shrike that I picked up dirt cheap on a Christmas sale they had a while back. If I ever improve on my freestyle capabilities, I would probably invest in some tail guards.

I think I just view the deck as a consumable like it will eventually die even with tailguard etc. My shortboard is starting to get some real razor tail 👀

I've got them (well, more like noseguards) on the original apex diamond drop, they came with the board though and 1. that deck is expensive and 2. they actually have grip on top and give extra length to the kicks.

I've never used tail guards yet. But each time I practice some freestyle trick that involves popping the board, I'm a bit worried by the fact that I'm damaging my board, even so slightly.
I must say that the main reason that I still don't have tail guards on my boards is that I need to drill holes in them, and I juste don't have a driller. OK, not a good reason since I guess I could borrow one.
