There's a bunch of ways you can do 8x8 - 4, by placing the -4 in different places. I've been obsessed with these solves for the past few weeks. Some of them are quite tricky! You have to be very careful with modularity of remaining spaces on each side of the "ring" and where you have enough 3x3 spaces and what diagonals are going to have space for where, etc.
In addition, the etsy seller I got these from, makes colorways with 3 colors, so as a fun extra challenge I like to try and get a line across connecting from side to side. As you can see, PYU can be rotated and reflected, so there's 4 ways to place that rectangle. But only one of them completes the dark blue path from left to right!
