ThrowAwayAccount, in Episode 303: iOS Privacy & Security

I found it interesting how he didn’t mention MySudo here, unless I missed it. Guess there were no changes to what he’s already recommended.

user, in Episode 301: Self-Hosted 3: Calendars, Contacts, & Notes

Thanks for this post. How did u get the time stamps of topics? Keep up good work. I got a feeling there's gonna be another pdf coming on self hosting. Nothing in the extreme privacy book about etebase/etesync.

ThrowAwayAccount,

I would love a PDF on self-hosting though I think it might be too much work to maintain given how quickly software changes. I think that's the reason he only gave links to resources here rather than specific tutorials. Who knows though, hopefully I'm wrong.

And unfortunately there's no magic behind the timestamps. I just listen to the podcast while I'm at a computer and type them into a text editor. I think it's helpful when you want to revisit a topic he covered in an episode but don't want to have to forward through the whole thing to find it.

I know some podcasts have chapters where you can just click on a link in your podcast player and it will take you to that specific spot so some day I want to try and see if I can "re-master" each episode by adding chapters.

user,

Hey I transcribed the podcast small model u want the zip file?

user,

Tx so much for ur hard work 🙏 I tried to find an online whisper ai transcript website to transcribe each podcast but only found 1 with 25mb upload limit 😪 I can do it on my linux machine but I gotta put it on and get the file yada yada. Its a bit of a drag.

Caliber search tip is really helpful. I didn't know it was capable of that and there's been many times I wished I could search through multiple sources at once.

ThrowAwayAccount,

I haven't jumped into the eBook scene since I feel like you need a dedicated reader and that's not something I see myself using much outside of an emergency. I agree though, the tech that's out there now to support it is pretty cool.

NightOwl,

Dedicated ebook reader replaced physical books for me. Easy on the eyes and like the resizable text, and light form factor while saving up space that normal books take up.

ThrowAwayAccount,

Interesting. I remember there was a podcast a while back where he recommended Onyx readers. Is that the one you're using?

NightOwl,

I've been using a kindle but had been eyeing the kobo. I'll have to look into onyx too since that's one I haven't heard of.
