It could be terrible, but I think they have a lot of the original writers back, don’t they?
I’m keeping my fingers crossed; the only real concern I have is how are they going to end it this time? They did such a perfect job of wrapping it up last time, but I guess they have some experience in that - the series “finale” with Fry and the holophoner was an even earlier great ending!
I thought Disenchantment had some real potential, especially near the end of the first season with the reveal. But then, it just kind of kept being an OK show after that so I stopped watching.
Welcome to the world of tomorrow! Even if the reboot winds up being bad that feeling of nostalgia you will get when the first new episode airs will be nice.
I can only be optimistic about it until my hopes are dashed quite expertly.
In all seriousness, I am also cautious as I haven't seen any indication that the original writers are on board. I don't think they need to revitalize it, they just need to retain the same energy of the previous seasons.
Good point about the writers. Most people appeared to be concerned with the cast (which of course makes sense, you want the show to sound the same, too), but the writing really helps these iconic characters stand out in addition to their incredible actors/actresses.
Besides the voice actors, who are all amazing, what is most memorable about the show to me is all the silly one-liners or science references. The one that lives rent free in my mind for multiple reasons:
Hahaha yes! Definitely! One of my favorites is when Leela tells Fry that he's becoming a "fat sack of crap" and Fry responds "Sack?!" like that was the most offensive word, haha. I will never not love the show! I hope this community grows. I was pretty involved in /r/futurama at times, if not lurking.
