First grow - should I be (more) worried?

So far I’m very happy with my first grow. I found the seeds, so I have no idea what strains they are. But they’re all female :)

Days or even weeks ago I noticed that some leaf tips of the largest plant at the back were turning brown and curling up. Only a little at first, so I didn’t think much of it. But now I’m not sure if this is unhealthy behavior. A few of the large leaves have also already turned yellow, which I’ve removed. The air circulation is better this way, but I’m starting to doubt whether the plant is safe or in danger.

Last night I hung the lamp a little higher (about 30 cm away) and aimed the fan at the wall; previously it had been aimed at the canopy. I hope it was only too much wind/light stress for this one plant.

That looks like mild nitrogen deficiency. Growing hydroponic herb requires a lot of nutrients. It’s not like regular houseplants because they get so much more light. To do a good job, you really need probably a three part fertiliser system. At the very least, a high nitrogen fertiliser for growth, and a high phosphorus/low nitrogen fertiliser for the flowering cycle (lights 12 hrs on/12 hours off).

HOWEVER, it looks like you are fairly close to finishing these. How many more weeks do you plan on going before you harvest them? It’s common in the last week or two to just give the plants pure water (no fert) to force it to use up excess nutrients in the plant itself. Anecdotally, too much fertiliser salts in the plant itself contributes to a harsh smoke. You may just choose not to worry about Mike noticed deficiency and enjoy the end product.

All in all, your plants look pretty healthy. I’d recommend doing some research on pruning for next time. You’ve got some pretty substantial lateral growth. Stems are a waste of effort… unless you’re shooting to make bespoke hemp.

3 weeks in flowering cycle now (since 4/20 :) ). Plan was to wait until they look ripe. (Is there an option to force/delay this?) But they could all 3 be different strains so idk when

Btw could i dry a first harvest in the same tent where i still have 1 or 2 plants in flowering stage?

Maybe it’s your camera, but the leaves look very light-coloured. This is a signal for the more experienced grower to adjust nutes.

But I’m still on your side to let this first grow ride and learn from it. Next time you can invest in some good food for cannabis and see the difference, combined with a proper training it will blow your mind.

Yeah I think I’ll just try keep using the cheap liquid fertilzer from now on for watering that one. And see what happens.

That one has always been paler than the other 2.

Well, you just gave me the best idea for a new job title in Germany: weed doctor. Someone who drives around and saves private cannabis farms. Total discretion, 24h support. That’s allowed within CanG, right? I’m going to be rich!

Ye I guess the coming cannabis social clubs here will also be allowed to engage external/freelancing grow masters or at least consultants. It’s also usual that clubs have one or more permanent employees to keep a club running. I don’t think the CanG says anything against this. (@ me if you need an unskilled coworker without driver’s licence based in Berlin. My current job is starting to fuck me off atm…

edit: though I’m a pro in customer service and logistical disposition. Take this as a serious job application if you are serious and need help one day.)

What are you giving it for food/nutrients?

If it’s just a premix soil of like miraclegro with time delay nutrients it doesn’t have the right nutrients to take it through flower, they hungry.

I used this pre-fertilized coconut soil / coco substrate. I also repotted them twice with the same substrate.

And last week I used this liquid fertilizer very diluted when watering.

Until now I was more worried about too much nutrients/ wind/ light. Also because the other 2 seem super healthy to me. But well I’m inexperienced

Ah, I don’t grow in coco coir, but iirc it’s supposed to be treated like hydro, so feeding with every watering. Plants can also have different needs, so varying needs of different nutrients. You should be using a different nutrient mix for veg and flower though.

Nothing wrong with that, I don’t tailor my mix for each individual one, if one’s hungrier, well sorry girl.

Next grow definitely look at getting a non-universal feed though, they have wildly different NPK needs in veg than they do in flower.
