@tartley I’m genuinely surprised! I’ve watched YouTube videos where Vim/Neovim has been transformed into a VSCode-like editor. I expected a whopping 100+ plugins, but the numbers I’ve seen here make me wonder if a plugin manager is even necessary. #Vim#Neovim

I think when I was younger, I indulged more than I do now, but I had oceans of free time in which to curate and configure them. Nowadays I just want something good enough so that I can get on with what I'm actually supposed to be doing without distraction.
@seve_py A curious outlier, one of the smartest people I worked with used textpad, the required features for choosing it being syntax highlighting, and mapping keys to run arbitrary shell commands.
I'm not saying that's the One Right Way to Do It, but it gives one pause.
@seve_py@tartley When I redid my config of about 6 months from scratch, I ended up with way fewer plugins than before. There truly were a good amount that I just installed for fun or that I quickly got used to not having (sometimes leading me to use more idiomatic practices). It’s a good thing to try every now and then, free time permitting. But there’s also no harm in having a bunch of plugins you like!
