Great. I was perfectly happy with Fedora, and now I have the desire to switch to Void. I’ll have to make sure everything I need is there and if so, I’ll work on making the switch.

Read in a reddit comment that someone asked in IRC and they said at least a month. When the maintainers of the plasma related packages are available

0x4E4F, in KDE6 / Void's repo

Also a good chanco for me to ask about how the repo works lmao

What do you mean by this?

HouseWolf, in KDE6 / Void's repo

Even on Arch it’s only in the extra-testing repo and not the main one yet.

From what I’ve heard even though Plasma 6 is full release now it’s still got a few bugs so we might see it in the main repos after an update or 2.

zgasma, in How to install Hyprland on Void Linux

Hopefully hyprland gets into the official repos soon. I installed it and now xbps won’t update because of version conflicts with wlroots.

BlanK0, (edited )

I don’t think it is a hyprland issue, I also have that conflict problem and I don’t use hyprland at the moment

zgasma,

Oh, well that’s weird. Maybe it was just unfortunate timing.

BlanK0,

I solved the problem in my machine, in case you need to know, all I did was on tty remove wlroots and reinstall it. it should solve the problem

Hyprland is like a WM?

BlanK0,

Yup, WM with animations. It’s quite popular nowadays

Unfortunately the support for Void is not official but I want to test on a virtual machine

RTRedreovic, in Settle on Void Linux and focus on what matters more

I have been using Void Linux for over an year now. It provides a very versatile environment. I find it very convenient and efficient for my work.

javasux, in I got a... weird problem...

Sounds to me like maybe the sample rate is changing away from what your application expects (44.1 vs. 48 kHz). I used to have this problem with Pulse quite often, but I don’t remember if I fixed it before switching to PipeWire.

Pulse has a “preferred sample rate” setting in its config files, but it seems to only really be a suggestion, and Pulse tends to ignore it.

PCChipsM922U,
@PCChipsM922U@sh.itjust.works avatar

So, how do I force it to use a particular sample rate? Cuz I think the streams are 44.1KHz (as is with most audio) and if it speeds up, the sample rate should be set to 48KHz if my logic serves me correctly.

This is just a temporary fix, I’ll switch to PipeWire as soon as I can, I just wanna do some work in my workshop and listen to music…

OK, I think I solved it :). Just needed to manually set some parameters in /etc/pulse/daemon.conf.

<span style="color:#323232;">resample-method = soxr-hq
</span><span style="color:#323232;">avoid-resampling = false
</span><span style="color:#323232;">enable-remixing = yes
</span><span style="color:#323232;">default-sample-rate = 44100
</span><span style="color:#323232;">alternate-sample-rate = 48000
</span>

I think defining the default and alternative sample rate mostly solved the problem, the other settings were just in case, I didn’t check if it worked with or without them.

Arigion, in login from lightdm to xfce delay

Not really, sorry, but it reminds me of a timeout. Something trying to load something from a service not responding. I’d check if one of the components is trying to reach a server which is unresponsive and if DNS resolution is ok. Sometimes delays occur if a wrong DNS server is configured and the system uses a fallback DNS when the primary one is unresponsive. Or an applet trying to access a resource which is not available. E.g. trying to show free space of a drive which is not mounted.
