AdellcomdoisL, in Weekly Warframe: Limbo

Limbo is an amazing frame for missions where you have to actually defend something, the issue is that there are very few of that mission type. It doesn’t help that the mission literally named Defense is actually a Secret Extermination and you do not want someone that makes it harder to kill enemies there.

Even then for excavations and the like you run the risk of an eximus just murdering the objective regardless

Keegen, (edited ) in Weekly Warframe: Limbo

I mentioned before that Limbo is my nr.1 frame I would like to see reworked. It’s pretty clear his kit just doesn’t align with how DE wants their game to be played. He is the ultimate feast-or-famine frame, either an absolute god untouchable by anything, or a paper thin magic man that cannot accomplish anything. He’s gotten noticeably worse since the Eximus rework, but it’s not like there weren’t plenty of random enemies that just straight up ignored his entire mechanic before. The big problem is that his whole core mechanic, Rift, is really disruptive to gameplay. Being able to arbitrarily phase objectives or allies into a whole another plane, making them untouchable, is broken. But allowing enemies to ignore the Rift leads to it being useless, as they can strike you in the Rift while you cannot hit them back without leaving the safety of your pocket plane. I don’t know how to fix Limbo without completely scrapping his entire identity, but the poor magic man needs a touch-up.

Worth noting, we're getting the Angstrum Incarnon next week, so for anyone interested in getting it Prisma Angstrum is the best version of this weapon.

Dystopia, (edited ) in Warframe Anniversary Week 3 Twitch Drop Campaign July 15th - July 22nd

Crudely spliced video with timestamps showing approximately how long it takes each Prism and Scaffold to break the Teralyst’s shields twice because an Amp Arcane Adapter is one of the drops this week.
Table of amp components For anyone new to amps, the first number refers to the Prism, second number is the Scaffold, and the third number is the Brace.

The video is mostly for showing the fire modes of each amp component for anyone that might be considering building a new one, and to roughly show how much damage newer players can expect from them. I’ll probably make a second video showing how each prism/scaffold performs with a more maxed out setup for anyone that may find it useful. (still only against the Teralyst so might not be the most useful video)

Hotdogman, in Yesterday I won Warframe, now I can finally pull this trigger

And now, time to lose your sanity leveling Kuva and Tenet weapons. Welcome to the Church of Forma! Congrats.

Frisbeedude,

Been there, done that. The Tenet Spirex was my last piece.

Thanks for this. I've been putting off farming Protea forever, but this got me all the components in an evening. :)

Dystopia,

Congrats! Protea is one of the more fun frames to play because of all the utility her kit provides.

tiresieas, in Why are popular Gram Prime builds not using Buzz Kill?

Without getting super into it, Physical mods are essentially a scam of a mod.

  • They do not affect your base damage, so they don't also improve your elemental mods.
  • The effective damage increase is only a fraction based on the baseline ratio: using Buzz Saw on Gram Prime as an example, a +120% slash on a weapon with 75% slash results in a total +90% damage.
  • The real nail in the coffin is that the bleed status does not scale with slash damage, it only scales with base damage, base damage mods (like Pressure Point or Condition Overload), and double dips with faction mods (turning a normal +30% Bane into a 1.66x multiplier, and a primed Bane with +55% into a 2.4x multiplier), while also being affected by other damage multipliers (like crits, headshots, etc).

There are legitimate uses for physical mods, but for regular melee use, the opportunity cost of using them is high, when you could slot in other things to pump up your damage output higher. A regular Bane will almost reach the same damage output as Buzz Saw on Gram Prime (of course vs the specific enemy), while also increasing your Slash proc damage further.

Legitimate uses include bumping up a slash ratio to being above 50% for dismemberment (to produce more Desecrate targets); for certain weapons (eg Shaku is full Impact) and stat stick abilities (Landslide is full Impact) that only deal 100% physical damage to get an actually effective +120% damage buff; for certain stat stick abilities (eg Whipclaw) that don't benefit from something better like banes, and can fish for more slash procs with it.

misericordiae, in Why are popular Gram Prime builds not using Buzz Kill?

In addition to what neooffs said, it looks like a fully upgraded Buzz Kill (120% slash) increases flat damage (ignoring procs) on Gram Prime as much as a fully upgraded (non primed) Fever Strike (90% toxin) for the same cost. So if you only have one flex slot, going toxin instead is 1) an extra status type for Condition Overload and 2) upgradable to a Primed Fever Strike (165% toxin) for more damage if you've got the mod and capacity. If you have more than one flex slot, I guess it depends on the goals of your build and the statuses you already have access to on your loadout, but other mods might still be more beneficial.

From my (maybe questionable) understanding, slash mods have some value when:

  1. you're low on capacity and the base slash weighting is high enough, a Jagged Edge (90% slash) or Carnis Mandible (90/60) (or non-melee equivalents) adds more flat damage than a 60/60 or equivalent capacity 90% elemental mod. Again, I suspect YMMV depending on statuses in your loadout, but I might be wrong.
  2. you're trying to mess with the IPS weighting for more chance of slash damage over puncture/impact, for Desecrate dismemberment.
  3. you're trying to mess with general proc weighting for a better chance of slash procs over other procs (this is the area I'm fuzziest on, maybe someone else can explain if/when you'd want to do this).

I see, so it's mostly that even 90% elemental mods are bad value in today's meta, I see most often people skipping even serration/point blank I guess due to galvanized mods. Thanks for clarifying!

misericordiae,

Glad to help! Hopefully I haven't misspoken--I'm not an expert modder by any means.

I wouldn't say 90% elemental mods are bad value--they have their place bulking out damage on very low status chance weapons or ones modded exclusively for crit. They're also good if you want to beef up a status when you've already slotted the 60/60 version. Even IPS mods aren't bad, they're just very niche (some more than others... lookin' at you, puncture).

Also, the reason Serration/Point Blank get left off is due to their being replaced by weapon arcanes like Primary/Secondary Merciless. The diminishing returns of putting more than one +damage source on a weapon are too high to justify having both (plus you get an extra mod slot to play with).

Akemi, in Who else is really enjoying Duviri?
@Akemi@lemmy.world avatar

I quit playing duviri after week 5 of SP circuit, I couldn't take the constant return to 5 missions repeating ad nauseum. The amount of time required to reach rank 10 in SP circuit, and on top the 5 week rotation with 5 rewards per week.

Coupling that with DE has said they will be adding more incarnons has left with such a sour taste. It's far too repetitive, too grindy, and extremely time gated. I'd rather get two resources a week that I can turn into any incarnon, even if I can only ever hold 2 at once. And dear god we need more missions that can appear so it's not so repetitive.

WadeTheWizard,
WadeTheWizard avatar

According to my very bad math (based on my most recent run), it takes 3ish hours to farm rank 10 steel path. 3 hours a week isn't exactly a lot of time, but it's not nothing either. It really does start to feel like a chore after a while. However, in it's defense, having a structure for guaranteed rewards feels way better than all of the other pure RNG grinds in the game.

Kaldo,
Kaldo avatar

I have to admit it does feel like they had to pad the grind because of lack of rewards, but it's not that bad and as you said there's less rng too.

Pathos clamp requirements are pretty annoying, resource costs are also pretty high considering how few resources you get (even with circuit) - getting 200 ueymag was a chore, but then again we got a good focus farm and kullervo bps can be obtained in around a dozen sp duviri runs which is better than many other frames like protea.

McRibbles, (edited ) in r/Warframe will reopen on June 21st. - Subreddit discussion megathread

An unfortunate decision, but ultimately a rather understandable one. I have some mild complaints about Lemmy, primarily those related to how....incredibly alpha it feels on all the iOS browsers I've tried. Even despite that, given the whole reason for the blackout to begin with, I would've been more than happy to stay on here long term. "Well why don't you do just that, even if the sub reopens?" probably because the already incredibly small community (even including non-posting lurkers) here will all just pack up and leave back to reddit making this a total ghost town. Unfortunate, but thems the facts. Though perhaps I'm just trying to rationalize being a hypocrite. Dormi.Zone's a super cute name, too.

Wonder who'll be the first to post primed Wisp Ass and get all those sick reddit updoots.

Dystopia,

*Wisp Feet Pics.

McRibbles,

True legends will get both in the same shot. The beginning of Mirage Oneiro Noble's Rifle/Shotgun idle springs to mind as a potential pick, depending on how much certain bits of cloth get in the way.

Zansacu,

WHERE?!

MarthaRagnos,

tbf all ios browsers are just re-skins for safari, there's really only the one browser on ios.

Kaldo, (edited )
Kaldo avatar

I've said this elsewhere but I like the smaller and overall more positive community here, I don't even miss r/warframe and have no plans to go back unless this one dies completely. We dont need millions of active users to have a nice space here, and it's only a matter of time before reddit shits the bed again and people wish they had an alternative.

edit: about the browsing experience: I'm on kbin so the layout on dormi.zone is different for me. I have to say it feels very sleek and professional and with some user enhancement scripts I also have collapsing comment threads, domains next to all usernames and similar improvements.

CheeseNoodle, in Weekly Warframe: Hildryn

Helicopter shield mom!
With her augment and a strength over everything build I find she can be very strong if a bit braindead, just keep spamming pillage + haven and everything around you will quickly burn and die, balefire also becomes a lot more viable as a crazy raw damage weapon once everything has no armor. That said her kit feels a bit simplistic? Outside very low level nuking pillage is really her only trick with haven really just being an extension of pillage and balefire not really doing anything that couldn’t be done by any other weapon.

misericordiae, in Weekly Warframe: Hildryn

My favorite tank! I never use her 1 or 4, though, and should probably subsume something over one of them. Aegis Storm is ok as a panic CC when playing in a group, but not being able to use my loadout at the same time is so off-putting. As for Balefire, I’ve never found it to be better than my regular weapons, and I don’t find it fun to use.

Keegen, in Weekly Warframe: Hildryn

Hildryn is not a frame I have much experience with. Her style of tanking was never my thing, I prefer to stack damage reductions instead or ignore damage altogether through abilities like Rhino or Revenant. I’ve gotten a lot of use out of her Pillage on other frames, though! She does make the absolute best use of it thanks to having access to Haven enabling her to use the Blazing Pillage augment to stack infinite heat procs on anything while also completely stripping it’s defenses.

HKayn, in Weekly Warframe: Baruuk
@HKayn@dormi.zone avatar

He’s another frame I like to take for a spin from time to time. I have a bit of a soft spot for Exalted melee brawlers; they’re one of my favorite power fantasies for frames.

I think his Restraint mechanic is an interesting way of gating access to his strongest ability, though I do find it hilarious that his optimal build requires you to absolutely decimate his ability duration.

Keegen,

I love that the modding system in Warframe allows you to hyper-focus on optimizing for one specific thing like that. Corrupted Mods are still the best designed mods in Warframe, sacrificing one stat to greatly boost another is a great design, especially when you can turn a downside into an upside like with Baruuk! I just wish weapon modding was even a quarter as flexible and involved as frame modding is.

HKayn, in Whats your favourite weapon for fun/flavour?
@HKayn@dormi.zone avatar

I really like using the Battacor for its looks and versatility.

As for melees, nothing beats the Ohma for me. I just really like tonfas.
