So I haven’t talked a lot about it because I don’t want to delve too much into my personal life, but I’m getting married this weekend! I’m very excited about it, but I’ve been noticing a trend among my friends and coworkers that’s been bothering me.
Everyone has been like “Oh wow I bet you’re excited! Are you stressed out? oh you’re the guy you’re not stressing about anything. I bet your fiancé is way more stressed planning things.” And it pisses me off. I’ve put a lot of work into our wedding and I get upset when people just assume I don’t care and have done nothing JUST because of my gender.
I built our wedding website. I know I’m a web dev but building a website for such an important event is not easy. I spent months on it. I’ve helped with music stuff too. I haven’t been able to meet with the wedding planner much but that’s because I couldn’t get off work to meet her. I don’t want to act like I’ve done more than my fiancé because I know I haven’t, but I’m tired of people assuming things about me. The reason I haven’t done more is that I’ve been extremely anxious and have been procrastinating a lot because of it. I wish people would stop telling me that I’m carefree and don’t give a shit about my relationship because of my gender.

I mean, a lot of this kind of small talk is just that, small talk. It's all standard phrases that we've been 'trained' by society to say automatically even though it's unfair and kind of hurtful. :ablobcatnodmeltcry:
They may not even have any firm beliefs about the words, but just repeat them anyway.
Don't take these too seriously, because it just hurts yourself.
Enjoy your wedding, both you, your partner, and all the people you care about deserve it. 🎉
@irfan WhatsApp basically exposes a very annoyingly barebones API (with fees), but allows 3rd parties to re-sell it, so companies like Twilio add a lot of useful features.
It's not ridiculously expensive, but the costs add up pretty quickly, so I used the very unstable easily broken FOSS one for a while.
Is it just a mistake to expect a game to be ready once it's done downloading from Steam and not have yet another download start once I open it for the first time?
I guess Steam could provide such features as well if enough demand is there :meowShrug: Maybe Epic could do such a feature since they own Fortnite, but I have my doubts...

There's very little monetary incentive. It's usually only done if it helps game performance or to squeeze onto a disc. Most developers won't spend time optimizing, because they literally don't have the time to. Steam/PlayStation Store don't charge for game file size anyway.
Only in the old days you'd get a miracle of a programmer optimizing gen 2 to have space to fit the whole gen 1 inside.
I remember in the good olde days where mobile apps had a size cap that forced it to be downloaded on WiFi only and my boss forced us to optimize to fit.
@dopey_kun
I guess it's being used to mean 'something relatable'.
To be unfair Tiktok/YT Shorts are clickbait AF, so they're just abusing hashtags to growth hack. The 'meaning' of stuff in that kind of fast moving format can change very quickly from the dictionary meaning.
@dopey_kun Ah, I've just been forced to use usePathname and useParams to do that trick like how Anilist does /anime/[id]/[title]/ to auto rewrite the title.
I mean, it's quite a trick to figure out that I needed to do the page as a layout under [id]/layout and do the redirecting in /[title]/page :ablobcatreachflip: but it definitely improves performance.
