macOS wish: Give me the option to sync my ‘Add to Dock...' web apps across multiple Macs.

DavidDarnes,

@johnvoorhees there’s several things like this I’d like to sync. Even just Finder behaviour

I got let go from my current role. To say I saw it coming would be half true, but I was not expecting to be out in the blinds this soon. Open to a lot right now, more info at https://jacky.wtf/work. (https://jacky.wtf/2024/5/20Fw)

Incase you were wondering:

  • HTMLElement is still the only class you can extend (because Safari)
  • <slot> only works within Shadow DOM

Very clear pattern forming in a few of my , creating a <template> element outside of the component code itself for reduced repetition and performance. I'm effectively polyfilling for Declarative Shadow DOMs inability to be defined once for many instances. Though I guess I'm also polyfillnig for a lack of “Declarative Light DOM" too 🤔

Thanks to @chriscoyier and @davatron5000 for inviting me onto the latest episode of @shoptalkshow.

We chatted about the tech economy, vibe-cession, and building an ethical framework for evaluating AI. Give it a listen!

Has anyone moved from Gitlab to Github?

What were the benefits? What were the pain points?

I want some of the premium features but the pricing for Gitlab is very expensive

DavidDarnes,
@DavidDarnes@mastodon.design avatar

@mikestreety I've not migrated before but after working a few years in both I'd take GitHub any day. GitLab is good but GitHub just seems more user friendly.

I would've thought importing from one to another isn't complicated? Just a bit time consuming to go through each repo

Netlify wanted to charge me $55 again (they didn't) for HTMHell. They told me that I'm using up more than 100GB of bandwidth, mostly because of the RSS feed (70GB). The file is 2.7MB uncompressed.
Is that possible? Am I doing something wrong or incredibly right? :D

DavidDarnes,

@matuzo very sorry but I just subscribed. Where do I send my $55?

DavidDarnes,
