I was telling a folktale about a prince who likes to wear red leather boots (and in the end he is identified by them, Cinderella style). And the entire time I couldn't help but picture Kinky Boots... 😂 😅

Revisiting Franz Xaver von Schönwerth's Bavarian folktale collection (contemporaneous with the Grimms). It has a number of tales where fairies or elves help girls who have gotten pregnant out of wedlock.

Sometimes folklore is surprisingly kind.

Akimbo Attack: hits 4 different targets at the same time. Damage 1d6 each.

Compass of Comfort: toddler spins horizontally, with head and feet striking in cardinal directions. Some of those directions are the attending parent's chin, stomach, and private parts.

Rotisserie Escape: twisting out of restraints while twirling.

Projectile V: bonus action, ranged attack. Always catches the target flat-footed and prone.

So in honor of

I am reading an article about how every time ancient art depicts a goddess as sexually alluring, they always get labeled a "goddess of fertility". Even when there is no indication of children, pregnancy, or anything fertile.

The article argues that some goddesses were deities of sex and pleasure, without the maternal fertility aspect.

I am like 🤯 🤯 I have a whole entire archaeology degree and we never addressed this...

@alicemcalicepants I hear that! Also, in a more niche context, motherhood without the pregnant body part. As an adoptive parent - but really any kind of non-biological parent figure -, it's a whole different imagery.

@foolishowl I remember an example we learned about where long clay figures with horns on both ends were labeled ritual object, sacred bulls, etc. Until someone pointed it out that they are always found by the fireplace, and they are great at holding skewers. :D
