RT @reasmus2 In light of the poorly-baked excuses from Gov Kathy Hochul justifying her flip-flop on congestion pricing, these signs couldn't be more fitting.

RT @renae_rey Am I dreaming. Did Gov Kathy Hochul really just say her pause on CP was based on convos with people in diners, who can afford to pay at the tunnel, pay to park and dine in MANHATTAN, but refuse to contribute to a public that would benefit all people and reduce our climate risk?

RT @streetsblognyc In Midtown, we ran into Ernesto, the caretaker of Paley Pk. He described himself as “a regular guy” and takes the bus from Bayside every day. He’s angry about killing congestion pricing and slowing his commute. But he doesn’t own a diner so she won’t listen.

RT @craigguriannyc It's not a matter of being mad, it's a matter of looking at a direction (Hochul's) and an unwillingness to act (NYSDOT) that seem to tick the "arbitrary and capricious" & "abuse of discretion" boxes. Plus a responsibility for MTA itself to challenge.

And tell Dominguez to have the courage to sign the agreement even if this feckless Governor tells her not to.

Anniversary blog post from June 9, 2010: Will congestion pricing boost ridership on the East River ferries enough for them to make a profit and no longer require subsidy?

Of course that was assuming the owners could set the prices as high as the market would bear, like New York Waterway can do. At $4 they probably won't break even, but congestion pricing may reduce the level of subsidy we're paying!

RT @ridersalliance New Yorkers didn't fight for years to win congestion pricing just for Gov Kathy Hochul to throw it away in a half-baked political stunt.

Rally with us this Sunday, June 9 at Broadway Junction and tell NO to DEFUNDING OUR TRANSIT!

RT @davecoion This will probably get buried by people who only see tweet 1 but the state pulling support matters because New York and the FHWA have to sign a Value Pricing Pilot Program agreement before the June 30 congestion pricing start date. Was gonna be a formality but…well…you know…

Legislators authorized the toll and the MTA set the rates but the final final final piece is the VPPP agreement, which has reportedly not been signed and no one can force the [NYSDOT Commissioner] to sign.

RT @rit_aggarwala I hope no legislator who votes for this sham effort to protect the worst policy decision in NYS in ages ever, ever has the chutzpah to call themselves a climate leader. I know what climate leadership looks like. This is the opposite.

RT @bellachu10 Kathy Hochul is getting blasted for overturning congestion pricing at 5 to midnight but there’s evidence that Rep Jeffries put her up to it. This is the kind of chaotic, backstabbing, undemocratic, for sale to the highest bidder behavior we expect from MAGA. He deserves heat too.

Anniversary blog post from June 8, 2011:

If you want a true pedestrian revitalization you need to challenge the dominance of cars in the city. Everything else is just an empty escape fantasy. You can't become Kim Kardashian by buying her "signature scent," you can't become Mary-Kate Olsen by wearing her "celebrity clothing line," and you can't become New York or Paris by putting up an elevated walkway to nowhere.

Want a break from reading about congestion pricing? I just published a new guest post from George K.!

Did you know there are jitneys (most operating in Spanish) with several runs a day, roughly every two hours, between Washington Heights in Manhattan and eastern Pennsylvania (the Poconos, the Lehigh Valley and Reading), with stops in Fort Lee, Paterson, Union City, Irvington and Newark Airport?

RT @mahoneyw Notably, Hochul rose to political prominence because of how well she managed a campaign against tolls for people commuting into a city

"The citizens of Buffalo and its first- and second-ring suburbs should not be penalized every time they leave their boundaries by paying tolls to drive to work, go to the mall, visit downtown attractions or take the kids to play hockey," she wrote in a 1998 op-ed
