Some ideas that I had, if any sound interesting to you.

  1. See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil hands
  2. Rock, paper, scissors hands
  3. Fingers making the shape of an L on your forehead (it's an American way to call someone a loser, according to tv shows from a while back)
  4. Sillycat as both a base and the eyes (I think it's just white neocat_floof but the eyes are surprisingly not the ones popularized in the boykisser neomoji)
  5. Rolling eyes and the slanted mouth to go with it
  6. Mouth with spaghetti noodle or mouse tail dangling from it
  7. I remember you saying that you liked boop too much
  8. The woem mouth
  9. Double guns (I actually think one left and one right makes more sense but both in the same direction is more consistent with other neomoji)
  10. A sign that says "LEWD"

I'll stop now before things get out of hand.

Huh.

If body returns a blank, it'll just send you the rest of the parts. A client could then drop that on top of their own 256×256 image. That'd be a neat way to let people play with their own sets without having to worry about malicious uploads.

Huh, I need to take preserving #neomoji more seriously. MirageIsland is closing down and there are a bunch of them that would dead end there. Similarly, the less than a month old neobun set could get lost due to harassment of the creator.

While I'm gathering more data on #neomoji, let's talk about some of the simple animated ones.

Neofox alternating between a closed eyes smile and the same but with a tongue sticking out.

Our first three are the most common type that wasn't made intentionally as an animation by the original creators. Blink, mlem, and talk all alternate between two existing emoji. The only difference is which eyes are used for blink and which mouth is used for the other two. These should be pretty easy to make using Ezgif if you grab a pair of them or use the neomoji maker. Blink uses 35 frame closed, 350 open, then 35 more closed on an infinite loop. The other two alternate between 10 frames with a closed mouth and 10 frames doing a thing.

Pacifier is similar to those but instead of alternating between existing emoji, it uses a single emoji but has an object placed on top of it that alternates between and up and a down state every 25 frames. I'd have to ask @Erpel whether he tried different durations or considered scaling instead of moving when he was fiddling with making them.

If you want to play around with the second kind of animation, I'd encourage you to look into neopossum and neobread because they are both available as SVGs which makes them easier to work with.

Neofox rolling is included because it's the most elaborate one that I've seen which wasn't made with a generator. It rotates 45 degrees between frames and swaps to a different face for a couple of them.

The next four are neofox_bongo which alternate between neofox_bongo_up and neofox_bongo_down. The normal one alternates every 10 frames. That gets sped up to 8 frames for _fast, 5 frames for _faster, and 3 frames for _hyper.

I wanted to share these animations to offer encouragement to others who want to contribute but might not be the most artistically inclined. I've been struggling to fiddle with some of these neomoji in even simple ways because art isn't exactly something I do much of. But even if you struggle to recolor images in Inkscape, between the neomoji mixer and ezgif, you can still contribute something and have decent chances of people enjoying it.

The left one is notable because it predates the neomoji mixer. There are a bunch of flag_*_kisser neomoji that people made by hand before the tool to easily make them existed.

The second is interesting because it is one of very few solid color replacements that I've seen gain traction. Also :neocat_floof_kisser_*_sillycat: absolutely wrecks my existing regex to find stuff ​:neopossum_sob_sad_laptop:​

I have just learned that the canonical name of ​:neocat_arms_and_legs:​ is neocat_arms_and_legs: not :neocat_final_form:. The name and alias have been swapped while I quietly weep.
