Garcia admitted he used an online phone service to call in fake emergencies to agencies in the United States and Canada while live streaming the calls on Discord in 2022.
You know what you should never do? Broadcast your crimes. But I’m also very glad that stupid criminals facilitate their own downfall. That’s pretty great.
Oh NOEZ! Now the election will be full of 2000 Mules-style fraud and there’s no way to trust the results! Blah blah, sob sob, something or other stolen eRection. Wait… is that why Trump is so angry? Does his dick not work? I’m not claiming to know for sure, but I definitely think so.
The woman, referred to as “Witness 1” in an FBI affidavit, previously recalled how a bit of “comically minimal ego-stroking” on her part led to Taake and other Jan. 6 participants giving up information about their activities during that attack.
She gets a virtual high-five from me. It’s not hard for me to believe that these dumbasses thrived on reliving their “heroic” fight against “tyranny”.
Having previously been convicted of a felony — and having been out on bond on a charge of soliciting a minor at the time of the Capitol attack — Taake was one of a small number of Jan. 6 defendants who were held in pretrial detention.
I would have appreciated more info here, but I’m not wasting time looking it up. This piece of shit can rot and I don’t need to spend any more time thinking about him.
You may have noticed a distinct lack of return2ozma. This is due to their admitting, in a public comment, that their engagement here is in bad faith:...
Yeah, I’m sorta startled that admitting to wanting to highlight negative truths over cheering for someone is considered bad faith. Bad faith is misrepresenting an issue, not selectively posting reputable sources. This is one mod decision that I think is wrong and bad.
This will mean nothing for us renters, long term. Other software that achieves similar outcomes exists and the massive corporations that have swept up huge portions of the rental market are all using them. We need legislation to solve this problem and our government is incapable of passing such.
The fact that a platform as popular as TikTok can be compromised in such a manner raises concerns about the safety of user data and the broader cybersecurity landscape.
I wouldn’t be surprised if this was orchestrated by a western state to further undermine the tok’s credibility in the face of government bans.
One scientist, Daniel Pauly, realized that researchers studying fish populations were making a major error when trying to determine acceptable catch size. It wasn’t that scientists didn’t recognize the declining fish populations. It was just that they didn’t realize how significant the decline was. Pauly noted that each generation of scientists had a different baseline to which they compared the current statistics, and that each generation’s baseline was lower than that of the previous one.
What seems normal to us in the security community is whatever was commonplace at the beginning of our careers.
Alyssa Rosenzweig is a badass low-lever coder. I believe she’s been responsible for a huge amount of the video driver work for Asahi. What an ass-kicker.
I didn’t smile at the guy tried for DUI when I was on his jury. Guess I never knew I was a prejudiced asshole all this time. I thought I voted guilty because I’d fairly evaluated the case, but I guess not.
Hi all, the private school I work at has a tonne of old windows 7/8 era desktops in a student library. The place really needs upgrades but they never seem to prioritise replacing these machines. I think those reporting success running Linux on old hw should state the distro and window manager that they’re using if they want to provide useful feedback. I’m not in that group, but Tiny Linux comes to mind. Possibly Alpine? Probably better info to be had from daily-drivers.

It’s probably best not to let news articles sway your judgement. With steps backwards, sometimes we forget all the steps forward. This applies to the US, too.
I’m over tinkering with my OS. So I’m looking for a distro that “just works” out of the box for my laptop. Also I want to test an “easy” distro I can install for my grandpa....
And that’s how I decided to install Debian as my next Linux VM (just got back into VMs in the past week with Proxmox). We’ll see how it does replacing my former favorite, CentOS, now that IBM / Red Shat have borked things up on that end.
