We did it, folks! Matrix has hit a new milestone in its open governance by electing a Governing Board to guide the Foundation and provide more representative and structured input to the evolution of the protocol.

Does anyone have a recommendation for an affordable, user-friendly chatter environment a la Slack where it's possible to have, say, up to 500 accounts? Asking for a campus AAUP chapter.

We're willing to spend some $ but don't want to break the bank, and don't need a lot of bells & whistles. We do need it to be easy to use.

Update: Thanks to everyone who offered ideas! We approached @zulip & they generously sponsored a noncommercial/educational free account for us. Super awesome ๐Ÿ˜Š

@inquiline Well clarified question ๐Ÿ˜‚ Zulip, Mattermost, and Rocket Chat are a few options that frequently come up as Slack alternatives that aren't Matrix.

I haven't managed a Drupal-backed website since D7, and suddenly a volunteer gifts me with a clean D10 install, with our old campaign's static site fully adapted into a theme to boot.

I am delighted at how the admin UX has evolved ๐Ÿคฉ
