my work laptop on started showing some annoyances and that distro hopping itch is getting stronger.

currently i'm checking out on my personal laptop, trying to script most of the setup while i'm going, so i could easily deploy it to my work laptop in case i end up liking it 🤓

    falls es nur um gba spiele geht, wäre es ansonsten eine option einen ds lite zu kaufen und zu einem gameboy macro umzubauen. ds lites gehen normal recht günstig her 😄
    die unterstützen allerdings dann keine gb oder gbc spiele, kommen aber dafür mit einem besseren screen als der ungemoddete gba sp.

    @scy bin seit ein bisschen mehr als einem jahr dabei und denke mir immer, dass ich da schon viel geld liegen lasse 🙈

    andererseits kann ich auch nicht mehr zurück zu den anderen privatsphäre freundlichen suchmaschinen, weil kagi da schon deutlich besser ist und zu google will ich auch nicht 🤷 😅

    😟 Getting older sucks... I have to remember to take my glasses out with me now when I go shopping as I can't read the microscopic ingredient lists on produce if I don’t.

    By the way, the game “Connect Four” is called “Vier gewinnt” (“four wins”) in – which made it a popular phrase among university students. There, the grades are usually from 1 (best) to 5 (failed). However, while a 4 is a pretty bad grade, it also means that you’ve barely passed.

    It’s not uncommon to hear students who have just written an exam say “Vier gewinnt! 🤷‍♂️“ – as in “yeah I think I sucked, but also I might’ve been just good enough to barely pass, which is good enough for me.”

    Okay, so I've had a lot of people ask what the is. So I will make this post and pin it to my profile.

    Basically, I (and any who join me) are vowing to use the same install of one distro for a single year. When something goes wrong, we fix it. No distrohopping, nothing like that. VM use and containers are allowed. This is to be done on your most used PC. Other PCs are at your discretion.

    I chose @opensuse Tumbleweed as my distro.

    used for years, but switched to tumbleweed a while ago. both are great, but at least in my experience opensuse is more stable while still being bleeding edge. plus opensuse has btrfs snapshot integration into its package manager, in case something doesn't work after an update. that alone is crazy useful in case you need to get some work done and don't have time to fix stuff right now. i never had to use it yet, though 😅
