Ugh, totally wasted open house. Lookee-loo City. I'm so glad this was our last one before we leave. The rest will be after, and the house will be vacant.

Good attitude there. We had to sell our home in 2009 (seem to recall a bit of bother for the economy back then ...). Yes it took a while but one day a young family walked in and realized it was PERFECT for them. They couldn't sign fast enough. The "thank-you" note we got after the closing would bring a tear to your eye. Hope you have a similar outcome, but without the long delay. And thanks for all you do here on the 'don! 👍
@GottaLaff Firstly, you have my heartfelt wishes for a good sale and safe move. Secondly, there are at least a couple of good selling points for buying a home WITHOUT a pool: lower insurance risk/liability for not having "attractive nuisance" danger of drowning; and, you can point out all of the maintenance costs and chemicals the pool-less home doesn't require!
@GottaLaff I would never buy a house with a pool. It’s an immediate turn off for me. I know there are a lot more people out there with my view so you will definitely find someone who will buy it. Hopefully, sooner rather than later. Hang in there.
@PJ_Evans Oh we know. We had one at our first house, and since then, none of our others. Plus there's a beautiful community pool for our tract, so no idea why it's such a big deal

We moved into a house that had a disused pool, the kind that's a redwood box with a sand bottom and a plastic liner. Liner had been removed at least a year earlier, judging by the weeds. We filled it with dirt (two dump-truck loads!) and used it as a container for our turtles. Added a couple of fruit trees and a patch of grass. It was more useful that way than if it were a pool.

I once saw pictures of a house a friend (contractor) built for a client. What impressed me wasn't the indoor pool — it was the private chapel! Like a Medici or a Borgia! With a little staging, any room can be a chapel. Think outside the box.

Seriously, though, good luck with the sale. I've been through this multiple times and it always ended well, but with much accompanying anxiety.
@GottaLaff I would love to have a pool now. But back when we had one over 20 years ago, our electric bill was high (also a bigger house!)
I believe in karma. The right person who deserves your house will show up when you least expect it. Good things can happen to good people!
@GottaLaff Once upon a time many years ago our house in Wyoming did not sell. We packed up and moved back to the PNW leaving an empty house behind. Eventually the house sold and yours will also.

@GottaLaff We have friends who moved to Bellingham WA two years ago. Traveling up to Vancouver or down to Seattle is so easy for them using Amtrak. You are going to have so many great new adventures!
