AI_toothbrush, Guys how do i sue asus? Also where would i sue? I bought the phone in ireland but live in sweden. I think if enough people sue they gotta do something about it right?
keyez, Hopefully others are able to get a refund and Asus reverts back to their original position. I got a nothing phone 2 instead of a zenfone 10 which I really wanted because I heard of the news about the reneg before I was able to make a purchase.
nexusband, (edited ) Unfortunately, due to ASUS being based in China, we are unlikely to get a response until next week.
So, Taiwan is now China for Android Authority? Good to know, another one to ignore and not visit anymore…
Alonely0, @nexusband @FragmentedChicken depending who you ask.
Rambomst, They have corrected the article.
Zak, I wonder what their motivation for disabling the unlock tool is. It seems unlikely that will increase profits and it’s likely to cost a handful of sales (I’m one of them).
keyez, Their initial post and article about this move on the forums was citing security concerns which is baffling especially given how short their support windows are for their devices.
Zak, “Security concerns” is so vague as to be meaningless, so I remain puzzled.
IllNess, Unfortunately, due to ASUS being based in China, we are unlikely to get a response until next week.
Even responses are late. Maybe Asus is using the snail mail for everything. They are going to sending floppy disks with the unlocker next month.
mp3, They are going to sending floppy disks with the unlocker next month.
Nice, time to undust my USB floppy-disk reader.
FragmentedChicken, It’s because timezones. It’s already Saturday in Taiwan.
tostiman, ASUS isnt in China, its in Taiwan
hornedfiend, he’s not wrong, is he? Taiwan is Republic of China, so technically China.
tostiman, I know what you mean, but I don’t think the author meant that
Neon, i mean, technically you’re correct in that Taiwan officially still is the Republic of China, officially still is in a civil war with the People’s Republic of China and still claims to be the rightful government of all of China.
But realistically noone will think of the ROC/Taiwan if we’re talking about China. Instead everyone will think of the PRC.
chemicalwonka, Taiwan is part of China
tostiman, If it looks like a country, functions like a country and behaves like a country, it’s probably a country.
lengau, Maybe they just think an illegitimate group is currently in control of the mainland?
Opafi, It’s not.

Drewfro66, Taiwan is in China.
possiblylinux127, Taiwan really does not want to become part of China. Just look at how much they are building up there military
Drewfro66, The government of the Taiwan Authority does not want to become part of China. Wherever you are from, I hope you realize that governments in Capitalist states rarely represent their people adequately.
Most people in the province of Chinese Taipei support reunification with the mainland. It is the U.S.-backed government that stands in the way.
possiblylinux127, Because the non capitalists governments represent the people so well?
Drewfro66, Remind me of the approval rates for the governments in Communist countries?
TheFrirish, wtf bro have you even been to Taiwan? because I have and it’s the fucking polar opposite
DoomBot5, Or because anyone in China working normal hours already left for the weekend because they’re 12+ hours ahead of the US.
