Dong64,

It’s almightysnoo, they’re already known to be an asshole. Nice job calling them out though!

Dong64,

Nah sbox murdered that shitty launched when they bought them out

Aspirations and Inspirations, Scope Creep

I’m a bit of a Michael Kirkbride fan, and a bit of a Tolkien fan (same as everyone). MK’s work on the Elder Scrolls series sets the bar for how original, offbeat, and deep I want my work to be. I want to be able to say I wrote a world from the ground up and filled it with dynamism, surprise, mystery, and drama. Unlike...

Dong64,

I’m a massive Cartophile. When I first got into TTRPGS I was the go to map person, and then when I took over running the game it exploded from there. What I specifically enjoy with that part of the game is that you can see the Cartographer’s perception of the world, and how over time, over many maps, that perception changes. And they don’t have to be 100% accurate! This eventually helped my cosmology, where different continents can spring into existence as if you just put another layer of tracing paper on top.

On the writing side of things, I wholly admit I’m a lampooner. The narrative stays at a 4-6 humorous-serious split, but when we dig in on a certain theme (Zombie Apocalypse, Dinosaur Island, Beach Episode) I will shamelessly try to include as many trope/trope inversions as I can. There’s good and bad to this, mainly that it is fun to play but a pain to go back and edit into a workable document for local history. So far I’ve got about three out of eleven years of roleplaying into a digestible format.

Inspiration wise Chris Avellone’s work on the Fallout Bible really gave me the agency to write things that players wouldn’t go looking for or may never see. Douglas Adam’s novels were a guiding star for how to do comedy well while still having a “believable” narrative. I like to think we all get a little osmosis from the media we consume, but then it’s up to us where we want to see that in our works.

And lastly to answer some questions I definitely missed: the narrative is too big for one story at this point, so I’ve shifted to lore to fill in the blank spaces between campaigns and unfinished ideas. Right now the desire is strictly in tying up loose ends so I can time jump and do it all over again!

Dong64,

I came back here to let you know on a whim I just read all of Rooster Fighter that’s out right now…. And it was so good. Thank you for this!

Dong64,

Here in Kentucky the weather has been nicer! Over the past few weeks we encountered some intense storms, made worse for me because of a recent surgery that put titanium in my femur. Comparatively, this warmer weather has been aiding the recovery. At the same time, if I’m getting sweaty on my measly .2km walks, I can’t imagine how awful it must be for those exposed to it longer.

Dong64,

Looking at the rest of the channel’s videos, I would hazard a guess that none of them are experts in anything.

Dong64,

To clarify a point I haven’t seen brought up yet; lead actor contracts run the gamut on how they’re paid. If I recall correctly, Scarlett Johansson sued Disney for breach of contract when it offered the movie Black Widow on its Disney+ streaming service while it was still showing in cinemas. Johansson’s lawsuit argued that Disney violated her contract by debuting the film online and in theaters, which cost her up to $50 million since her salary was largely based on box-office performance.

So essentially, this is covering the “creative accounting” studios use to pay their actors as little as possible.

Dong64,

Is this unpopular? I think especially for people who browse new it makes total sense. I just blocked a few today.

Dong64,

You’re a monster!

Dong64,

Actually, it gives +10% damage against male opponents and additional dialogue options with homosexual male characters and certain female/non-binary characters

Dong64,

I honestly don’t know where I fall on this spectrum. I went to college for Musical Theatre, becoming an accredited actor. On the other hand, I am a huge tech enthusiast. But I feel like an idiot savant. I have experience with raspberry pis, creating mods for pc games, building my pc, and some elementary Python understanding, but my understanding is very paint by numbers. If there’s not multiple articles with information on a project, I’m probably not going to be able to solve it. So like, right in the middle maybe? I’d make for a good rubber duck.

Dong64,

“Nobody wants to debate me when I bring up my political views and I can’t stand downvotes!”

This is what you sound like right now. What specifically is your definition of “wrongthink”?

Dong64,

I like C! Looks slick and easy to add designs to fit special events like Halloween or Black History Month

Dong64,

Okay, I’ll bite:

Mace of Many Faces

Dong64,

Just wanted to clarify, I assume you’re being sarcastic? You believe every Black Lives Matter protest was a violent affair? Because that’s pretty verifiably false. Not to mention, not the crux of this article.

This article is about how the FBI lied in court about its social media monitoring capabilities. If you want to spout off unverified theories about how every protest was violent, you could make your own post/community. You could also try actually contributing to the discussion, but of course you don’t have to.

Dong64,

Cool anecdotal evidence. Here’s hard data with sources:

acleddata.com/…/a-year-of-racial-justice-protests…

“Approximately 94% of all pro-BLM demonstrations have been peaceful, with 6% involving reports of violence, clashes with police, vandalism, looting, or other destructive activity.

In the remaining 6%, it is not clear who instigated the violent or destructive activity. While some cases of violence or looting have been provoked by demonstrators, other events have escalated as a result of aggressive government action, intervention from right-wing groups or individual assailants, and car-ramming attacks.”

Dong64, (edited )

Let’s go full circle! According to the FBI (who are known to lie, which was the original intent of the post/article) insurance fraud costs us 40 Billion dollars a year, with other research suggesting much higher.

www.fbi.gov/stats-services/…/insurance-fraud

So the most expensive riots, of which 94% were peaceful, cost about 2.5% ( 1B/40B) of how much conservative estimates think insurance companies lose to fraud every year. But again, if you want to specifically make a post/community about this you are more than welcome to.

Edit: I realize tone is hard to convey over text! I am not trying to diminish the point you are trying to discuss. I just feel like “Lemmyquette” (is that a thing yet?) would suggest it deserving its own article/post. I do think it’s interesting that the 1-2 billion is close to the Rodney King Riots, as sourced in your article. I hope you have a good rest of your evening!

Having some issues with logging in, but wanted to detail what worked for me:

  1. Try clearing cache (this worked for some users, but not me)
  2. Try different web browser
  3. Worked for me: reset password. Interestingly enough, the password reset link sent me to a version of the page in French, but this method worked both times I was unable to log in today.

Also looks like wefwef is still not working after this troubleshooting fix.

Dong64, (edited )

Out of curiosity, was the reset password link in French? Also, which apps are you using? I finally was able to get into wefwef, and hadn’t really tried another app up to this point.
