Elevator7009,

Hmm, this feels like the inverse of my own opinion. I don't like clicking that much but am totally fine with the standard "click a bit for your first producers" mechanic. Curious why you dislike it.

That's okay about the old comment, I can still see it so here it is:

Pure curiosity—if I hit Report, do you receive the report or does my instance admin receive the report? I reported the post before I saw your comment.

We also have chat

Huh? I'm posting from Mbin, and it looks like incremental_social is an Mbin instance too. Do you mean your Matrix space?

And no problem replying, I appreciate it! Kind of jealous that your weekly posts get engagement. I'm basically the only person propping up @otomegames and people didn't reply, and I've fallen off on posting the weekly threads since. But I suppose incremental games are less niche than otome games, so it makes sense.

Elevator7009,

I remember someone being named Connor, a fandom on tumblr, and robots.

Is anyone named Detroit and does anyone become human?

The Great Indie Game Recommendation Farmers Market!

Come one, come all! Got a game that’s not AAA (or god forbid AAAA) but you loved anyhow? Welcome to show and tell. Talk about your favorite, why people should play it, and what you love most about it. And yes, I’m aware this may just be end up being 25 comments about stardew valley....

Elevator7009,

As a walking simulator hater (not going to say "if you like them you are not a gamer", they are just personally not my speed), I enjoyed Stanley Parable a lot. Hades is kind of similar in that I don't like roguelikes but I do like it.

Kingdom looked so interesting but actually playing it drove me up the wall for reasons I cannot articulate even today.

Elevator7009,

I think that is the perfect explanation for why I don't like walking simulators, thank you!

Elevator7009,

Rabbit.

They're adorable.

That's the only reason.

Why yes, I do post on @bunnies.

Elevator7009,

Pure curiosity—if I hit Report, do you receive the report or does my instance admin receive the report? I reported the post before I saw your comment.

Elevator7009,

Oh hey, the free games mod! Did not expect to find you here.

I pretty much agree with your perspective.

Elevator7009,

Various incremental/idle browser games that are truly free. Kittens Game is pretty good. It also has a mobile app (Android link) (iOS link) which you pay once upfront for. The Shark Game is also pretty cute.

Just found @incremental_games

Elevator7009,

In general, there's a tutorial on the Minecraft wiki just for adding beauty to constructions, and the Construction category on the tutorial page has other tutorials for buildings too.

There is a guide I used to swear by on minecraftforum.net, might be this one but I think it was longer

Elevator7009,

Yes.

I think this legitimately would count as intellectual stimulation for a bunny.

Elevator7009,

I feel like you do the same thing regularly, thank you.

How does one make content in an incremental game meaningful, and when should one stop making it? (incremental.social)

A lot of incremental games I see are in perpetual development. They are never truly finished, the developer always promises that another content update is around the corner. And those content updates get released, and the games eventually get really big. They grow to have prestige layers approaching the double digits, or months...

Elevator7009,

I feel like overall opinion trends towards yours (I remember complaints about repeating the same content with little change for tiny boosts), but what people specifically consider too little a change, too tiny a boost varies. And if they have enough of other things they like in a game, they might put up with it, or deal with the problem by using automation scripts.

I can say I like when a prestige lets me do the content that took 3 days in 3 hours. I cannot really give a definitive answer on how I'd feel about taking 1 day to do what I did in 3. I did not finish Advent Incremental, but I can speak for what I have played so far. When you had to redo content, it didn't take that long (because the content you were redoing did not take so long in the first place) and it gave you a pretty nice upgrade afterwards. I tend to be a fan of redoing your past progress with a twist added in order to receive a bonus. Idle Formulas did this really nicely in my opinion, especially since your first go-around might take at least a day, but when you try to redo your past progress under specific limitations for a bonus, you are also expected to take 30 minutes or less to complete it.

I feel like the answer to this question is more of an art than a precise science, and that my answer is not too enlightening or good, but for the sake of engagement on this small community and on the Fediverse in general… I'm posting.

What does your sims inventory look like?

I hate my sim carrying loads of stuff for all sorts of reasons (I think it creates lag, I hate having to scroll through a load of items to find what I want, there are bugs where the whole inventory disappears when you do certain things and that seems to happens less when they carry less stuff), so I try to keep the bare minimum...

Elevator7009, (edited )

Right—I've never been much of a collector in games. I like The Sims to engineer relationship drama, for Create-a-Sim, and for general life simulation. I put my Sims in regular careers or have them make and sell art or whatever—not collectibles. Really not interested in that aspect of the game, for whatever reason.

Yes, I do realize that part of life for some humans is fulfilling their collecting hobby.

How abstract do you prefer your incremental games and why? (incremental.social)

First off, a definition: I define the “abstractness” of an incremental to be based on how much it is removed from other genres. For example, Kittens Game and Clicker Heroes are not abstract – the first is themed around civilization building while the second one takes mechanics from RPGs. Meanwhile, Prestige Tree is a prime...

Elevator7009, (edited )

I like both! However, less abstract games have a way to pull me in to at least try the game that more abstract ones do not. If I think the game theme is cool I'm more likely to try it. Think along the lines of being a shark lover, so when you hear about a shark incremental you immediately give it a shot.

Elevator7009,

Swapped links!

I figured on the Fediverse, the norm about "don't necropost" might be a little less strict. At least on my instance, I see this, the weekly posts, and one other post about making meaningful content as the only posts here, so I figured I was cleared to engage.

Glad you're here!
