Summer is the worst season of the year, isn't?

The sun sucks, being forced to shower like every 4 hours just to not feeling sweaty, the fucking mosquitoes, the fact you can’t wear anything that you want anymore due the heat, the people outside… The fucking beach. I try to avoid it… The fucking sand, not a fan of it. Is scratchy, harsh, annoying and it infiltrates in...

Hikermick,

Totally agree. During the winter the parks are empty, no little, no bugs, no noise, no sun screen. The only downside is the early darkness

Hikermick,

Gift them a video game console. When I was young we must have drove all the neighbors nuts, running across their yards playing sports. My neighborhood now has kids but it’s nice and quiet. Thank you Playstation and Xbox

Hikermick,

I’m up to 5 ticks already this year

It happens. Half the time people get bummed, the other half they are OK with it and will tell you they have a hard time remembering names too. I am in the latter group. When I forget a name and the person is obviously upset I’ll tell them “let me tell you something few people beside my wife know about me, I have this social anxiety that yadayadayada…”. This usually smooths things out as I’ve shown a vulnerable side and nice people sympathize with that. If they don’t fuck em

Hikermick,

Some people are better at taking care of others than they are at taking care of themselves

Hikermick,

I googled Tisza mayfly and the images i see are very similar but my picture was taken in the US. My apologies I should have mentioned that in the original post. Also this mayfly isn’t that large, maybe an inch/2.5cm

Hikermick,

The irony in all of this is that if he had just paid her out of his own pocket it wouldn’t have been an issue. Like they say the cover up is worse than the crime or noncrime in this case. Also ironic is he didn’t have to cover it up as the evangelicals don’t seem to care he cheated on his wife with a porn star. A perfect example of why we don’t need morality police telling us how to live

Hikermick,

Oh I can assure you the holy rollers were up in arms about the immortality

Hikermick,

A small $25,000 house with a 13% mortgage rate. Driving there in her family car (one car shared by the whole family) that get 9 gpm and turns into a pile of rust by the time it gets to 80,000 miles. Oh and unemployment was 7.5% and minimum wage was $3.10 if you could even find a job

Hikermick,

Mine too but most don’t

Hikermick,

Not trying to pull a gotcha just pointing out there’s a lot of apples and oranges at play here. If you think life was a breeze back then you’re sadly mistaken.

Hikermick,

My family sat around and stripped copper to make ends meet

If you look at my original post I provided actual facts that I double checked before posting not anecdotal information. People downvote but haven’t tried to refute. They look for validation not information on the internet. There are good jobs out there now needing to be filled. Trust me the 70’s thru the 80’s were hard times, I lived through them.

9 to 5 is just a phrase referencing a standard full time day shift job not about the specific start/stop times

What do people today act like is new, when it's already have been a thing or already been around?

Gamers like to make it sound like $70 is a new thing today for video games. When, I've seen adverts of games back in late 90s and early 90s that were priced $70. It's always been around so I find it ridiculous that so many of them complain that the pricing is too high when, it's been a thing....

Hikermick,

I can do the same by cupping my hand in my armpit then jerking my arm down like a chicken wing real fast. Is this still a thing? I haven’t been a kid since the 70’s

Hikermick,

They’ve been playing the victim card for decades. It’s been a constant “we’re oppressed/we’ve got them on the run” for as long as I can remember

Hikermick,

They also last longer. Cars used to turn into a pile of rust before they hit 100k miles

Hikermick,

Yeah in the 80’s people in the US were freaking out about Japanese cars but in the end the US cars became better in order to compete
