Laser,

less comes with all distributions I know

Laser,

Judging from the videos on their site, it has strong TGM vibes with the play field outline, colors etc. Guess I’ll be trying it later

Laser,

Unfortunately, expected payout here is about 1/4 of energy cost with a machine from less than 5 years ago.

Laser,

Buying XMR from exchanges with the money it would cost me to mine would result in me having 4 times as much XMR in the future at that value, so it’s still not a viable proposition

How to make sure nobody wants to work for you. Kind of funny because I’d think these workers are in demand, plus if this goes to court, the hospital will most likely lose.

Also I hope that that the people who got fired still show up to work every day. In case they win on court, the clinic has to pay every day they showed up as if they fully worked - it only counts if you offer you work as an employee, if your employer declines, that’s his fault. This is kind of important because this means they also have to cover social and health insurance retrospectively.

Laser,

Cryptocurrency with Tor has unironically done more for drug safety than most administrations worldwide. I hate the framing “fake money for criminals” because while there are despicable crimes, not all of them use cryptocurrency, in fact USD was the most common last time I checked, OTOH what constitutes a criminal can be an arbitrary rule. Woman in Texas having an abortion paying with crypto? Fits the definition but I’m not sure people here would condemn it.

I’m not happy with how cryptocurrency turned out with the huge speculational bubble, NFTs, not even a huge fan of smart contracts but I think the idea of a decentralized and maybe even anonymous ledger is very much in the spirit of the fediverse.

Laser,

Isn’t he called “Don Flamenco”? Haha

Laser,

So in the non US game version, Soda Popinski is named Vodka Dunkenski.

I thought this was an issue with revisions, I still he was also called Vodka in the early US version.

I mean even Mike Tyson got renamed to Mr Dream later…

Laser,

Nice info.

If you want know more about a completely different aspect of Punch-Out!, watch www.youtube.com/watch?v=TBR9ypSOTGQ

Laser,

I found it especially funny that his initials are the same as Mike Tyson’s.

The guy is an absolute gaming legend. Just figuring out so much about a single game on your own and then optimizing it to such a degree with all the randomness involved. Truly obsessed

Laser,

What are you using right now?

Laser,

Is there a good reason to use point releases on NixOS? I always used unstable and the support is less than a year for releases anyways. It’s a nice sprint to get all components in a polished state, but then again unstable hasn’t really disappointed in that regard either.

Laser,

Don’t put too much thought into it, ist an empty threat to scare idiots, there’s no logic

Laser,

Jesus these people. How much time do you have to spend in that insane bubble to come up with this obscure nonsense?

Do they live off glue pizza?

Laser,

Did Gauss or Euler get an AEAD cipher mode named after them?

Laser,

If you actually try to understand what’s happening, I think it’s one of the best ways to learn how a system is composed, at least if you install manually. What’s a partition, file system, what does mounting do, chroots, you name it.

I don’t use Arch anymore but still think it’s a great distro to learn the basics while still having the luxury of new binary packages. Manual Arch install abstracts basically nothing away from you, for better or for worse.

Currently on NixOS, I’d say while its engineering is better overall, the things you learn there are much more distribution-specific or maybe concept-specific and often not applicable to other distributions.

I guess there are also probably ways to install e.g. Debian manually, I’ve never seen instructions for it though as there was always the focus on the installer, and frankly I’m not a big fan of apt and all. It always seemed to be much more convoluted than pacman plus it does a lot of stuff for you, whether you want it or not was my impression.

Laser,

Hey, I never said this is what people want, just that it is in fact a transferrable skill. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone just trying to get their machine running, but if you’re looking to gain some insight, is not the worst choice.

Laser,

Interesting how similar our distro careers are. My switch was also after a long time (15 years). Wouldn’t go back to Arch. Still think it’s a good distro for what it’s trying to achieve.

Laser,

Also basically every Linux big name posted there. It was so great. I’m still sad it’s gone

Laser, (edited )

Am a little bit surprised by his nativity given his experience. When I was in the forces, I always learned in training that urban warfare is a meat grinder and that the attackers will lose a multiple of men of the defenders (5 to 1 or so? It’s over 15 years ago). Can only have gotten worse with drones which bring the threat of aerial forces to urban warfare. Don’t know what he expected.

Also I wouldn’t count on the Chinese comrady as much once life is actually on the line. Their military mostly had experience bullying. However, I think I’m case of an invasion of Taiwan, things would look somewhat different.

Laser,

The void doesn’t actually speak Spanish, it’s just pretending not to understand so that it doesn’t need to justify. Actually adds to the punchline

Laser,

As a proponent of psychedelics, this can’t be the solution. The fact that 25% of the population is impacted enough to warrant a prescription is scary, but psychs won’t fix it long term. The underlying societal issues need to be tackled.

Laser,

If an end of war with reparations was the goal, this is what Russia would request, not a ceasefire. A ceasefire is just a way to continue a war later with greater intensity.
