Should we create a transfer rumours thread to list all of the current rumours - names, current club, position, rumour source(s), etc.?
I love these rumours being brought up in the daily discussions, but it can be difficult to keep track of all of them. A thread like the one I’m suggesting would be supplemental to the daily discussions, not to replace it.
Yeah, I don’t understand it either. Rashford makes no sense. I’d much prefer that we bring in an out-and-out striker, and then bring in a separate right winger (it promote I’ve from our academy? Surely we have one of our two decent options we can’t try there?).
Yes it does. And it’s only going to get worse. Not saying that plane travel will become untenable. But we’re all going to have to brace for extra safety measures and the repercussions of more frequent and severe turbulence.
“The Pope never intended to offend or express himself in homophobic terms, and he extends his apologies to those who felt offended by the use of a term, as reported by others,” the Vatican said in a Tuesday statement....
The 87-year-old pontiff reportedly made the homophobic remark in a closed-door meeting last week as he told Italian bishops that gay men shouldn’t be allowed to train for the priesthood.
Well, they’d better brace for an even more severe priest shortage then. I’ve met many Catholic priests over the years, and based on their mannerisms, I’d estimate that a sizeable minority were nearly falling out of the closet. Not a big deal IMO, as most of them were good guys as far as priests go. They cared about and wanted to do what was best for their parishioners. And they took their commitment to the church very seriously. But excluding them from the seminary will just make the current priest shortage even worse.
Windows 10 EoL is fast approaching, so I thought I’d give Linux a try on some equipment that won’t be able to upgrade to Windows 11. I wanted to see if I will be able to recommend an option to anyone that asks me what they should do with their old PC....
Those upcoming changes are why I’ve been playing with the idea of a complete switch to Linux. While I use Linux regularly (but certainly not exclusively) and feel comfortable making the transition to it from Windows, my wife and kids would struggle with some aspects of Linux. And committing all of us to that OS transition would mean a commitment for me of troubleshooting, assisting, and educating the family.
Thanks OP for this post. I know you’re getting some shit for it, but I and others appreciate your honest findings.
I don’t think OP’s analysis should be taken as offensive or disingenuous by others here. And I don’t understand why they are getting shit. I’ve been using Linux off and on for 20 years. It’s come an insanely long way in that timeframe with its usability for less technical users. But yes, there are still some gaps to fill. And the way to fix them is to listen to honest feedback like OP’s.
No, I’m saying that whenever they would run into any problem with the OS they would need to either figure out how to overcome it, or I works need to help them with it. It could be a more technical issue. It is could be a case of " how do you do this thing in the Linux UI? Because it’s different from Windows."
Good for her. She’s facing a steep uphill battle because she’s not the GOP’s preferred candidate. But the party needs more smart, moderate, clear-thinking representatives like her. Hopefully with this campaign she will be an example for others.
And even then they can’t accept their own rest results. Like at the end of Behind The Curve where they shine a laser from one location to another location on the horizon.
They are adamant that because they believe the Earth is flat, the last would hit the target on the horizon exactly in the middle. But no matter how hard they try, the last keeps overshooting the horizon target… because of the curvature of the Earth. But do they accept that their own experiment has disproven their hypothesis? Nope.
You may not be a scientist, but your summary is pretty much spot-on. And it certainly makes a hell of a lot more sense than whatever horse shit the flat earth clowns are pushing.
A California city has agreed to pay $900,000 to a man who was subjected to a 17-hour police interrogation in which officers pressured him to falsely confess to murdering his father, who was alive....
I hope these disgusting cops get fired and prosecuted for what they did to this poor guy (and his dog). But that’s not how it seems to works. These scumbag will probably just get put on paid administrative leave until another police department recruits them. And then they will become a nightmare for the residents of a different location.
I didn’t want us to have to play for the community shield, because I feel like if it didn’t work out for us it would harm our morale and form for the start of the season, and all for a pointless joke of a trophy.
Plus for as much as I hate Man United, them winning means that Man City are denied the double.
So I’m content with this result. Sort of. I think a localized meteor strike would have been the best option. But oh well.
The US is split into three power grids: Eastern interconnected, Western interconnected, and Texan (because Texas’ strident Independence forbid them from connecting to other states, even though their power grid has failed spectacularly in recent years). (I bring up these three delineations to show that energy can be transferred over pretty large distances.)
As we know, the US is a geographically large country. But technically, power can be transferred from the middle of Utah, across Nevada, and into California. So power transmission distances can be pretty large.
There is energy loss for sure, so it’s not always especially efficient. But if Germany is generating so much solar power that it’s impacting their market costs, that shouldn’t be a massive hurdle. In essence, they should be able to sell electricity to Poland or Austria or other neighboring countries.
Maybe there are other reasons that restrict Germany from selling their surplus power. But I don’t think distance is it.

It’s amazing how they’ve pissed away so much good will for the horrible acts they endured on Oct 7th, and they are now pariahs to the large majority of the international community. They are on a hell of a ‘victim to villain’ speed run.
Chelsea’s owners: “We’re going to axe/refuse to cooperate with a widely respected manager who dragged us into Europe with a ramshackle squad after a really rough start! I bet nobody else would do something this crazy!”
Man United’s owners: “Hold my beer!!!”
Seriously though, at least wait until after cup final before hinting at such a decision! How is this not going to totally unsettle their squad for a big match? Why don’t they just concede the cup to Man City before kickoff and be done with it!
Damn, I liked his documentaries. Regardless of whether you agree or disagree with the premise behind Super Size Me, he was excellent at his craft. And he seemed like a good guy.
I like things just the way they are. There’s so much great stuff has been done on the server, I don’t want to see everyone’s hard work undone or reset.
My only suggestion would be to maybe make it easier to teleport to me areas? I don’t know. I’ve found on my extended family server that activity goes in waves: people collaborate on something intensely for a few weeks, then it guess very quiet for a could of months. Rinse and repeat.
When things live up again it’s usually because someone finds a cool area and invited others to collaborate on something there’s.
A quick calculation reveals that, if we wanted to collect 10% of the Sun’s energy at the distance the Earth is from the Sun, we’d need a surface area equal to 1 billion Earths. And if we had a super-advanced technology that could make the megastructure only 10km thick, that’d mean we’d need about a million Earths worth...
