Bankrupt Steward Health puts its hospitals up for sale, discloses $9 bln in debt (www.reuters.com)

Bankrupt Steward Health Care has put all of its 31 U.S. hospitals up for sale, hoping to finalize transactions by the end of the summer to address its $9 billion in total liabilities, its attorneys said at a Tuesday court hearing in Houston....

Brkdncr,

Can you imagine a shareholder having more power than a dr in deciding your healthcare options?

Brkdncr,

I love how when this gets recommended the responses turn into trying to find the more exact correct amount to set the line at. Just like normal politics though, they get bogged down so much that what seemed like a simple answer turns into discuss, defer, delay, and the original point was missed.

Brkdncr,

Back when Reddit was still “new” people posted niche content into a few broad categories until there was enough of that content to start its own category.

I wish people used Lemmy like that.

Brkdncr,

Too many variables. Energy usage isn’t constrained to efficiency of the hvac.

What’s the energy consumption of your current unit? compare that equipment to a newer model to get an idea.

Brkdncr,

Set it loose and let it build a wall wherever it wants

Brkdncr,

I know it’s fun to bash on Microsoft, but:

…microsoft.com/…/windows-11-version-23h2-update-h…

Brkdncr,

Yeah, for that reason, the feature upgrades only take a normal restart compared to the 30+ minute upgrade of the past.

Let's gloat a little, What makes Lemmy/Mastodon/KBin/BlueSky and the Fediverse better than Facebook/Reddit/Twitter?

With Lemmy - I can block whomever is bothering me and I will not see their posts ever again. I can see their notifications and they somehow can keep responding to me (which ought to be worked on). But erasing their existence on my end should be a thing when you don't want to deal with them....

Brkdncr,

Did gentoo stage 1 and used that to get through my college education learning to manage windows systems.

It was neat. I feel like I will never need to do it again.

If you could take a single character out of a piece of media (book, film, TV show, video game, etc) who would it be?

They would lose any magical powers they may have had in the book, but anything they are, rather than can do, will stay. For example people from the His Dark Materials world would keep their daemons. You can take them out at any time in the story’s plot, but for all other people consuming the media, it will be shown that the...

Brkdncr,

There’s a huge one in downtown Los Angeles that was designed at peak theater. It’s multiple floors and multiple concessions. After Covid it’s been a ghost town so going there has been nice although I don’t know how they continue to exist.

Brkdncr,

Been using voyager for a while and haven’t found a reason to change.

Brkdncr,

Biden could announce that he’s set up a deadman switch so that once the law is enacted, mercs would take out the people that ruled in favor of the law.

Brkdncr,

You would think paper towel man would learn how to avoid these types of situations by now.

Brkdncr,

Bad argument. It’s easier to carry one gun than two.

Brkdncr,

I doubt many are concerned about people with good training.

Brkdncr,

I dated a uni prof for a long time and they work waay too much. Every night, every weekend, much of the summer. They then get paid peanuts.

It’s less than minimum wage and many of the consumables they pay for themselves.

Then the big wigs at the top get too much compensation.

Then the vendors get paid too much to provide piss-poor software and services.
