I can't be the only one who finds writing if case .someCase = someEnum backwards...

Why is it written this way? Is it just because you might unwrap an associated value and that must* go on the left side of the expression?

Shipped a pretty big refactor today which was the result of ~6 weeks of effort untangling, rethinking, and diagramming a better solution to the problem, then executing carefully.

It’s very domain specific, but I will say that it has been refreshing working on a new problem that you can’t solve by reading tutorials or reaching for a design pattern.

Anyone have book recommendations for managing dependencies in the context of software?

My feeling is that dependencies & techniques to mitigate them are fractal in nature, so you have micro dependencies (like a method that takes parameters), broader dependencies (this package depends on this other ones) to macro-dependencies (this business effort can't be done until this other one)

Want to read more about this, but I'm not seeing much written about this topic (or at least search is failing me)

Need some #Rust assistance.

I have a shape of "detector" functions that detect card patterns and return whether they match, and if so, the remaining cards left in the hand.

I intend to iterate over them like this image. But Rust needs to know the size of each of these closures. So this gives me an error: impl Trait only allowed in function and inherent method return types, not in variable bindings

I think I understand the error, but I'm not sure how to get around it. Wrap each in a box?

Spent some time with AudioKit yesterday. Turns out much of what I did by hand with Tonal Therapy is done in like 5 lines of code with #AudioKit

MorphingOscillator is really useful.

Really nice stuff built in.

I get that you might have a sizable audience*, but what would it take for you to say “nah” and start posting elsewhere? Where is your line?

And just like that, https://www.nsdateformatter.com is now running on AWS Lambda!

This was a fun distraction & taught me about Lambda. I was pleasantly surprised that I could deploy a Vapor application with its own routing and such behind “serverless functions"

I also rewrote (because of course I did) the front-end, as Leaf templates were -let's be honest- not a great experience.

The front-end is now Svelte, and uses Vite as a development server. I'm pretty happy with this combo.

My wife’s photo always shows whatever My iCloud photo is set to. It’s so weird. Even if I change it, sign out and back in again. I’m not sure what to do to fix it.
