blandfordforever,

I think the new version of net metering pays homeowners less than it did previously, for power that they feed into the grid, disincentivizing rooftop solar.

blandfordforever,

And a falling human birth rate is good for the environment

blandfordforever,

Why sit there feeling sad when you could be making real progress towards being sad, fat, and gross?

blandfordforever,

Adam’s target audience must be teenagers. That was hard to watch.

I like how each subsequent time the dollar amount is mentioned, you learn that the previous number had been rounded up.

Man awarded $1m is glad to receive $900,000. That $898,000 will make him feel better but is $897,600 really adequate compensation? However, it’s kind of unfair that the tax payers end up footing this $897,550 bill.

It fits right in with this bad cop story.

I don’t have any direct sources to link but I remember seeing some pretty appalling omissions of Bernie Sanders during the 2020 primary.

They’d literally put up a little infographic on the screen that would say something like

Democratic primary front runners:

1 Joe Biden

3 Pete Buttigieg

4 Michael Bloomberg

And it was like, WTF! Bernie Sanders, at #2 would just be completely omitted. I saw many news sources doing this kind of thing.

With that, and seeing how they reacted to help the rich stop losing their asses when the hedge funds were getting raped via their illegal shorting of GameStop stock solidified for me that all media is controlled by the rich and they’re controlling all the narrative - to the detriment of the 99%.

blandfordforever,

I want to believe that I live in a world where there is a nearly zero percent chance that the original post wasn’t a joke.

blandfordforever,

I respectfully disagree. I realize that everyone’s experiences are different but I greatly prefer being an adult to being a child.

blandfordforever,

I think he’s saying that you can measure how much energy the food contains but not how much energy each individual will successfully absorb and metabolize.

blandfordforever,

Why would this guy think that the sign has its right arm and right leg forward? That’s not how walking works. Its clearly the left leg and the right arm. Tell that guy to get back there and do it right!

blandfordforever,

Babies are heavy. Its all about more weight and fewer reps.

The concept of being fed up with water is so alien to me. Water doesn’t have some powerful, delicious flavor but the sensation of drinking water is almost always one of satisfying refreshment.

How can you be irritated by water? “Damn it, this is only exactly what my body needs!”

blandfordforever,

Whose reelection? The former democrat Donald Trump, who was determined by a judge to have committed rape and who cheated on his wife with a porn star?

blandfordforever,

Haha, people choose the language that supports the narrative they’re peddling.

When emphasizing how bad Trump’s actions were, he cheated on his wife with a porn star. When trying to make it no big deal, he had a fling with an escort.

When trying to humanize Stormy Daniels, she’s an adult film actress. When trying to tear her down, she’s basically a hooker.

blandfordforever,

I think the question becomes, should you need to be licensed to operate and should you have to register/insure what essentially become ultralight motorcycles?

If you could get a $1-2k “motorcycle” that was an electric bike, having about a 45 mph top speed, a 20 mile range, and a detachable battery that you could take inside with you to charge, it would be such an efficient, practical method of transportation.

blandfordforever,

I agree with most of what you’ve said.

However, I have a bottom of the barrel, 250w hub motor ebike. With pedal assist, it gets me cruising at 20mph no problem. I got it from Walmart for $400. I am pretty ignorant when it comes to production and manufacturing but it stands to reason that at 5x the price, they could make something that would safely go a little over twice the speed.

The problem with ebikes is that they manufacture all these huge, fat-tire, inefficient pieces of garbage and then price them at $3k like some luxury item.

I’m hoping cheap, fast ebikes are coming soon.

blandfordforever,

Wait, the bike I was hoping for already almost exists. Its called the goat v2. Its just a little over $2k with some promo codes and realistically, it’s a couple mph shy of 45.

I think we’re going to see bikes like this everywhere within 5 years, which is great!

blandfordforever,

Did the sharpie writing indicate that it had been converted to commode mode?

blandfordforever,

I still try to limit my impact but a few years back I realized that going out of my way to do “green” things was mostly pointless. Its like trying to bail water out a boat that people are actively kicking holes in.

Recycling - It almost all ends up in the trash anyway. Fuel Efficiency and green transportation - Why? 90% of people seem to want to drive a giant SUV.

People care about stupid, ineffective, virtue signaling bullshit like plastic straws and not wasting a piece of paper.

If people really cared, they’d ride their bikes or at the very least, reduce their meat consumption. However, a wide majority simply do not care.

blandfordforever,

You can talk about what people say they want to do or you can look at what they actually do. They glorify overconsumption as a way of showing personal success, value, luxury, self worth, etc. They reproduce far too often.

Congratulations! You, by virtue of being another member of our overly abundant, highly resource consuming species, are also part of the problem.
