it's vitally important for executives in big corporations to feel like Bond villains. Hiring private security and spies, building and administering goofy office complexes, setting up private cities sort of like the island of dr no, etc, and then they have to bring people in for meetings to make use of the real estate, etc. but none of them actually do anything meaningful. but they aren't really solving any problems. At best, it's just a big expensive circlejerk to soothe their insecurities.

I know ChatGPT 4O is amazing, but I'm beyond revolted and offended by it's fake caring enthusiastic attitude. I expect to ask it about my friend's cancer, and it either tell me how amazing it is I'm getting this first hand experience, or to tell me how sorry it feels I'm going through this. Either is infuriating in a way hard to explain, and inspires fantasies of kicking OpenAI devs in the balls! The world is full of fake. Do we really need an LLM pretending to care? Fucking revolting!

"AI" being "free" or "cheap" seems like an illusion, sort of like Uber being cheap, and a willingness to depend on it even for mundane tasks is a statement that you prefer the more expensive, anti-human option. Money is meaningless to the tech oligarchs who control these data centers, but they can use the threat of automation to scare workers out of organizing, or train a generation to lack the skills to organize or do the work themselves
