C’mon now … like it’s not that hard to pretend to be a gov’t official on a phone call or email.

… some were being held by NGO employees and doctors employed by WHO.

Do you have verifiable proof of that?

West Virginians Could Get Stuck Cleaning Up the Coal Industry’s Messes (www.propublica.org)

West Virginia’s fund to clean up abandoned coal mines is in such dire shape that it threatens to stick taxpayers with hundreds of millions — perhaps even billions — of dollars in cleanup costs. And yet, little is being done to turn things around....

Same as Texan and Albertan oil wells.

Gov’ts just don’t give a shit about people.

The scope for AI to turn children into the generators of extreme content was demonstrated in September by an app which creates the impression of having removed someone’s clothing in a photo.

It was used to create fake nude images of young girls in Spain, with more than 20 girls, aged between 11 and 17, coming forward as victims.

The images had been circulating on social media without their knowledge. So far there have been no charges brought against the boys who made the pictures.

Jayzuz. :/

Girls and women just can’t get a break anywhere or anytime. Maybe we should be considering manditory classes on anti-misogyny cause parents seem to be failing to do anything.

Please stop excusing misogyny as just “boys playing around” cause that’s a load of crap.

Boys who think like that grow into men who think like that … so stop it.

Good. Canada has a shitty history of supporting our mining companies doing whatever they want to do in other nations.

If you’re unsure what they’re saying, maybe you should ask first before justifying your opinion.

TIL about the Folgers’ ad cause it’s been over 20 years since I watched ads anywhere.

I’ve done a few heli tree plants and riding in the chopper was the highlight of our day!

I have never understood why any airport/airspace is VFR. I used to work at one that was (as a weather observer) and sent in an unofficial (15 minutes before the station opened) WOXOF report for an incoming medic flight cause the ceiling was below 50’.

Pilot landed by the skin of his teeth, then came to my office to thank me. If they hadn’t had the report they would have had to fly another 380 miles return to drop the patient off.

Holy shit! That’s freaking crazy!

That “Israeli guy” is former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak.

AI poster child Altman back at OpenAI, may have fewer checks on power (www.reuters.com)

OpenAI is bringing Altman back just days after his ouster as well as installing a revamped board that could bring sharper scrutiny to the startup at the heart of the AI boom, but strong support from investors including Microsoft (MSFT.O) may give Altman more leeway to commercialize the technology....

A Top Mutual Fund Executive Made Millions for Himself Trading the Same Stocks His Giant Fund Was Trading (www.propublica.org)

One such shareholder was David Hoeft, a member of the Dodge & Cox committee that made the decision to buy the shares and an advocate for investing in technology companies. Hoeft, who has spent 30 years at Dodge & Cox, is now the company’s chief investment officer....

How a Maine Businessman Made the AR-15 Into America’s Best-Selling Rifle (www.propublica.org)

When the public asks, “How did we get here?” after each mass shooting, the answer goes beyond National Rifle Association lobbyists and Second Amendment zealots. It lies in large measure with the strategies of firearms executives like Dyke. Long before his competitors, the mercurial showman saw the profits in a product that...

I’m over 60 and have worked since I was 12. You don’t know shit about my experiences but are arrogant enough to think otherwise.

Now you know.

Vastly different because the harassers were co-workers, not bosses like priests essentially are.

girlfreddy,

Yeah, it is. Because bullies never act out in a vacuum … their supporters have to be present before they start bullying. If you remove bullies to new surroundings and new people - esp to people who are aware of why they had to move - they have lost their power and support to bully.
