For the past few years, the hour between 5 and 6pm has been the hardest part of my day. I’m thinking it’s because this is when I’d commute home from an office and I liked that transition period between work and home. I don’t have a commute anymore, so that transition feels so abrupt. Does anyone else who works from home feel this same way?

@starshaped I have been working from home since 2012, but what helped me is to develop rituals around the day's end. As an introvert, I get in lounge pajamas. But I think any ritual that feels good to you might help?

@starshaped @clayton Yeah a hobby, a walk, change outfits, shower, have some tea, make an end of day playlist to put on—literally any set of things you can do that feel good to you, that you can make into a ritual that can signal that transition to your brain.

(Right now it’s 5-6pm for me and I am clearly on Mastodon so 😹 back to getting into pajamas!)

Pantheon caved to pressure to kick ADF off their platform & overhaul their Acceptable Use Policy. This is great! But I don't plan to lionize them for being Slightly Ethical Under Tremendous Pressure.

A friend asked me "how do i get amazing frontend chops?"

I answered off the top of my head:

  • Go implement some challenging designs
  • Go sit with a designer who really cares about their work, and iterate like mad in parallel with them.
  • Animate some complex shit.
  • Drive your browser with only a screen reader for a week.
  • Go work on implementing data tables with 100,000 rows.
  • Oh, and try using the web at 400% zoom for a while. Fix everything that's busted on your site when you do.

(Add your own! There's so many great ways to learn the expertise required)
