Video footage reveals ‘Kill the Jews’ remark used to explain police intervention made by pro-Israel counterprotester in provocation (huntnewsnu.com)

Footage taken late Friday night of a tense confrontation between pro-Palestine demonstrators and pro-Israel counter-protesters at the encampment revealed it was a pro-Israel student demonstrator who said “Kill the Jews,” asking the pro-Palestine demonstrators “anybody on board; anybody on board?”...

This is yelling “Fire” in a crowded theater sort of criminal behaviour.

Sci-fi books are rare in school even though they help kids better understand science (theconversation.com)

I got interested in SF because the librarian in my elementary was a SF lover. There were racks of paperbacks that I gobbled up and it’s stuck with me for decades since. It makes me sad to think that kids don’t have the same chance I did to get interested at an early age in the most imaginative genre of fiction. We all need...

It’s like these lawmakers don’t know what a mill rate is or something. Property assessments are just to determine that people with more real estate wealth pay more of the share of taxes. Remarkably, it’s a progressive tax.

I understand that people that have had their houses for decades in a gentrified area get fucked, but that’s a problem for a different solution. Most houses change hands often enough that you know you’re going to be in a high tax neighborhood or not.

That says more about BMG than it does about Roger Waters.

Custom responses is something I’ve been waiting for with bated breath. I used TTS over media player but that messed up whatever the media player was doing so I dropped it.

I’m good with a project that’s concentrating on privacy being run by a paranoid fuck. If he’s pouring all his lunacy into making it as locked down as possible, seems like a good thing to me.

I particularly like the recent duress PIN code upgrade. Seems like something every OS should have in it. I don’t need some cops fucking around with my social media and banking info because I got stopped for jaywalking.

These past two weeks in KDE: massive stability work for Plasma 6.1 (pointieststick.com)

Sorry for the interruption last week; I was on vacation. While I was vacating, my colleagues were in full-on fix-everything mode in preparation for the upcoming Plasma 6.1 release in a little over a week. And what a release it promises to be! I think this is going to be a good one, folks. Lots of great features, improved...

Which is why I’m saying I don’t buy it. Hibernate is notoriously terrible in every distro because it’s not working right for most cases because the kernel doesn’t do it well. And I know that’s really not the kernels fault, because every manufacturer has some stupid implementation of S4 (and S3, frankly) that makes it fail.

Hibernate works

Yah, I’m not buying that.

I doubt Jeremy ever sat in that Massey. He prefers Lambos.

Don’t sweat it. There were people doing advanced things in Windows that would probably have blown your mind as well. It’s just that most people that use Linux just enjoy tinkering for the sake of tinkering so it’s more visible, and Linux lends itself to people doing weird and wonderful things never envisioned by it’s creators.

You just started on the road, where you stop is entirely up to you. Just know that the view is way more interesting going this route. Take a few pictures on the way.

That was the first time I saw DiCaprio. It was great performance, I can’t imagine another actor in that role.

If self-hosting makes you feel better about it, Vaultwarden exists for the Bitwarden client.

If you’re using Voice Assistant, the recog and TTS are much faster and more fluent than what I’ve seen on my own system. I am running it as a VM on an old server, so hardware will matter, of course. Also, you can get remote access with Home Assistant Companion proxying your HA interface very seamlessly. There might be others, but this is what stands out to me.

I don’t think you could go fast enough to catch Valve as they ran screaming from that idea.

They’ll roll over and offer an encryption backdoor, DOJ will offer a token fine, everything goes away and consumers get a deep, hard, dry anal fuck.

So maybe safe injection sites work? I don’t see them mentioning any correlation, but then again, I don’t know how long these sites have been operating. Seems to match though.

Backroads Map Book a couple years ago, because logging/mining roads aren’t marked well online, and then you have to figure out how to download it offline when you’re in the ass end of nowhere. Best I’ve found is OSMAnd and even that doesn’t have everything.
