jumjummy,

It’s almost as if many of these people are just virtue signaling or falling for the propoganda. I don’t see any of these same commenters so vocally opposed to any of the other handful atrocities happening around the world, and yet they fail to think the next thought of what will the situation be like if Trump wins?

jumjummy,

Voting 3rd party in a primary is throwing your vote away, plain and simple. If we want better candidates, handily defeat the GOP so that it has no choice other than to ditch the completely fascist support, or collapse. That’s the only chance we have of getting more progressive candidates to vote for. Start in local elections, move to state, then get some of these people into higher office.

Hoping that suddenly the incumbent Democrat candidate will become a super progressive person at the 11th hour is just a fantasy.

jumjummy,

And I bet you’re the kind of person who thinks “bOtH sIdEs ArE tHe SaMe”

jumjummy,

Stop the disinformation. Voting 3rd party in this general election is just going to help Trump and the fascists. You’re either a naive fool, or a disinformation agent.

jumjummy,

Russian troll either being intentionally obtuse or a fool.

jumjummy,

He has always been an asshole with an ego to match Musk.

jumjummy,

So come this November what are you suggesting? I’m so sick of these naive pie-in-the-sky dreaming, or just complain without any solution posts. Come out and say it plainly. Are you saying not to vote for Biden come November?

You’re literally one of the guys in the meme above.

jumjummy,

So you’re saying both sides are the same? Just wanted to clarify.

jumjummy,

I’m not saying to telegraph your vote, but I am tired of these not-so-subtle attempts at either “bOtH SiDeS” arguments or somehow pushing for people to not vote (or throw away their vote on a third party).

This disinformation push has truly infested Lemmy across the board and I view it as extremely dangerous.

Realistically it’s too late in the election cycle to impact change on either incumbent nominee. All k see is efforts to disenfranchise people into somehow not voting for Biden.

jumjummy,

This all the way. Make it so the Republicans of today are never close to winning again and then you can actually foster some splits within the Democrats.

As it sits today, the Republicans have such. Great shot at winning that the Democrats can’t post a super left-leaning candidate otherwise they’d get handily beaten.

jumjummy,

Oh, it definitely isn’t. If the US was actually progressive, universal healthcare at a minimum would be in place, same with more workers’ rights, etc. Let’s just hope American doesn’t become full blown racist with a Trump victory.

jumjummy,

Well, they probably prefer this job than pushing up sunflowers on the battlefields of Ukraine.

I truly wish as part of sanctions Russia was completely cut off from the Internet. Watch again as a large chunk of the bots and Facebook accounts dry up.

jumjummy,

So you’re a Trump supporter then? Come November, not voting for Bden is either directly or indirectly supporting Trump. No other way to spin it. Naive or a troll.

So tired of these foolish posts infecting Lemmy.

jumjummy,

They don’t let Russian citizens vote.

jumjummy,

Stop pretending you care about Gaza. If you did, you’d see that the other choice this November would be catastrophically worse.

Just come out and say who you’d vote for. Stop virtue signaling.

jumjummy,

And yet notice how these articles are all focused on Taylor Swift. After all, the owners can’t let articles point out their privilege and class disparity.

jumjummy,

Sam Altman is a complete asshole with a cancerous ego believing he is the smartest person in any room.

Greater Idaho movement: 13 counties in eastern Oregon have voted to secede and join Idaho (ktvz.com)

On Tuesday, voters in Crook County passed measure 7-86, which asked voters if they support negotiations to move the Oregon/Idaho border to include Crook County in Idaho. The measure is passing with 53% of the vote, and makes Crook County the 13th county in eastern Oregon to pass a Greater Idaho measure.

jumjummy,

Exactly this. With the electoral college system, those republican voters count towards the population numbers to assign electors, but the state always goes blue. If these counties move to Idaho, those Republican voters help shift electors to Idaho, and will go red.

Sorry, the US election process is broken, and we don’t need more games by republicans to sneak in more electoral votes. I hope this measure never sees the light of day.

jumjummy,

You do know that Ticketmaster encourages, or at the very least does nothing to stop these bots and scalpers. Hell, they even facilitate this on their own sites. With a service fee at every turn, they make these fees multiple times on any given ticket when resold.

Fuck ticketmaster and I hope their monopoly gets broken.

jumjummy,

The streaming vertical integration really irks me. Say what you will about the music industry, but at least I only have to pay for ONE streaming platform to enjoy pretty much any song I want.

jumjummy, (edited )

Yeah, let the country collapse under Trump, that’ll show them! I keep seeing this foolish argument over and over on Lemmy. Not sure if Reddit was this infested with naive and/or Russian trolls.

If Trump wins, everyone who didn’t vote for Biden shares the blame. When the situation in the Middle East gets worse, you’ll be to blame. When LGBTQ people get even more targeted in the US, you will be to blame.

Weasel out of it all you want, but come November, there’s really k lot two choices vote for Biden, or (in)directly help Trump.

jumjummy,

Because the November election is not the place for that. I’d absolutely love the Democrats to move further left. First step is to make sure the current Republican Party can never win again, then, it will either collapse, or move more center to gain back some voters. As the Republicans move left, it would allow a further move left for the Democrats.

The best place to move left is with local elections, not the general election when both party candidates are already selected.

jumjummy, (edited )

So are you suggesting the November General Election is the time? This is what I don’t understand about these threads. They don’t seem based in reality at all. What do you think will happen if people either don’t vote, or protest vote a 3rd party candidate? Please play that scenario out for me with a Trump win and how that solves anything.

jumjummy,

I would think that the winning move would be to impose enough tariffs to offset the foreign government subsidies, yet still promote some competition.

jumjummy,

Definitely need more subsidies or grants for domestic research. Though I don’t see the government owned company idea working mainly due to how capitalism is implemented here. The government tends to not directly compete with private entities.

Fully agree with clamping down (via higher taxes or something similar) on the giant vehicles and the loopholes they can abuse today.
