They are socially apathetic. To them, they think all social issues and prejudice just magically resolve. They won’t necessarily condone the persecution of, say, lgbtq+ or various other minorities… But they also won’t lift a finger to stop it either. Their goal is to externalize guilt and responsibility.
Oh yeah they don’t even care about negative market externalities. In their utopia they think corporations in the beeline pursuit of profit will just naturally be compelled
To that I always ask them who would’ve voluntarily promoted EPA regulations on vehicles or safety regulations in such a society? Automobile manufacturers didn’t want to incorporate them as that changes their bottom-line, requires them to re-tool, and raise prices. Consumers didn’t want it either because it would again raise prices while those emission devices reduced vehicle power (my grandpa ripped them off in those early years…).
The only people advocating for such things were scientists and health experts who had the foresight to understand the consequences. That then only came from Democratic institutions mandating such requirements.
More than a thousand Harvard students walked out of their commencement ceremony yesterday to support 13 undergraduates who were barred from graduating after they participated in the Gaza solidarity encampment in Harvard Yard....
The origins of this are almost certainly rooted in right-wing operative and foreign troll farms intending to sow defeatism and wedge-drive the Democratic coalition. The people promoting this have a tendency to fall into the category of either being the ones serving the kool-aid, or drinking the kool-aid.
What’s more is that the right is trying so hard to use this moment to paint the left as being antisemitic. If Republicans didn’t paint with such broad strokes the pro-Gazan civilian protests by pointing to fringe protesters — often from outside groups — this wouldn’t have been a problem in the first place. Shame on any university staff that cave to the bullshit pressure.
The notion of “choice,” and “free will” has largely been called into doubt by scientists.
Second, when (as the above-user mentioned) a corporate conglomerate has millions if not billions of dollars to spend on marketing teams, behavioral scientists, psychologists, etc., that tends to overwhelm our finite willpower and short-circuits our primal neural motivators.
Ultra-Processed Foods have tastes and caloric densities in abundance that simply is not found in the wild so easily except for honey guarded by angry bees and salt licks… What do you think that does to the brain whose evolutionary past is still firmly rooted in hunting-and-gathering?
My wife and I joke about this all the time — how the hell can we become more like Daniel Tiger’s parents!? We swear right off-camera in the other room they’re ripping a massive bong or something to remain that chill… And Daniel, that kid is perfect, listens to reason all the time, and pretty much never has a tantrum!
Just once I want to see Daniel lose his shit followed by the parents who are exhausted trying to hold it together. I want a realistic portrayal of parenting and childhood tantrums. I want to see the parents break down and over-punish or say something wrong but then retract and come back and say sorry, etc.
That being said, we take our own deep breaths, try our best to comfort our kiddos when we can and ensure that all their needs are met. And when all else fails—gas, diaper, food, play-time, teething, checking for cold symptoms, holding them in a low-stimulus room, etc. — we give them a little time to try to calm down or take a nap. On the flip-side, we’re not fans of the CIO method and aren’t just going to let them go on and on for a half hour or more. A reset after that tends to reveal whatever the problem is… But anyway, we’re still learning.
In order to maintain his health, he doesn’t eat french fries and walks six miles a day.
“… And takes a massive amount of undisclosed statins and BP meds,” probably lol. Seriously, I have to wonder though if people like this are bankrolled in some way by fast food to offset the negative publicity they get. Then they (under privacy laws) must offset this stuff privately with their doctor.
Came up with a new song, Nights in white statinnnnn. Needs some work, though.
NOAA is forecasting a range of 17 to 25 total named storms (winds of 39 mph or higher). Of those, 8 to 13 are forecast to become hurricanes (winds of 74 mph or higher), including 4 to 7 major hurricanes (category 3, 4 or 5; with winds of 111 mph or higher). Forecasters have a 70% confidence in these ranges.
Tornados, hurricanes, etc… All I want to ask these conservative climate change deniers living in these areas is whether they still believe the bullshit.
Joe Biden has launched one of his most scathing attacks yet on Donald Trump’s record of racism, suggesting that the former US president would have acted differently to the January 6 2021 insurrection if was led by Black people....
Honestly I’m pretty sure close to the same. At the least they’d probably call it a riot as opposed to an insurrection but it begs the question — would they do such a thing in the first place?
… But the left didn’t trespass into the Capitol; nor did they start beating cops relentlessly. Nor were their grievances as patently hollow and void as the Jan 6’ers. Nor were their actions stoked by the President, themselves. Nor were their goals as remotely fascist.
Did you guys see Chris Sununu fully bend over backwards, collapsing his face fully into Trump’s ass cheeks to defend his endorsement despite going full 180 from his words not 2 years ago? That man should join the circus with flexibility like that.
A federal judge in Fort Worth, Texas, on Friday blocked a new Biden administration rule that would prohibit credit card companies from charging customers late fees higher than $8....
You guys are missing an essential point — conservatives control the narrative.

Right-wing talk radio pioneered by Rush Limbaugh
Indoctrination Centers (churches) across America…
Conservatives LONG won the information war.
What does this mean? Republicans can do no wrong while Democrats are held to an infinitely higher standard and anything they do is hammered home to the ignorant, uneducated average American FAR greater than what Democrats can do to the right.
Things have marginally improved in the last 10 years as the recognition of Botherism has expanded, but let’s not forget: (1) Republicans still have the majority of the money, (2) Republicans won huge with Citizens United and SpeechNow decisions, and (3) they’re assholes and assholes will beat you with experience.
Catering to a broader coalition on the left that is also far less confrontational by the nature of being more empathetic is also something that we as a group must come to terms with. Our rallying points have never been blind loyalty and fear-mongering like the Right uses with the literally biochemically-altered conservative brain (studies on MRI testing prove this). We gather strength through vision, hope, solidarity, love — hence why Obama’s Hope & Change message in 2008 was pure genius.
Though I will say I do agree there is a certain type of character we can seek to promote on the left, like AOC, like Bernie, like Warren, and like even Swalwell. Someone not afraid to push the bully back. Hopefully we learned a big lesson from Obama’s era of capitulation and seeing his hand get smacked down over and over as he tried to reach across the aisle.
This should be plastered every single day from now through election day. Texas has enough people to vote out these scumbags; it’s just motivating them to go out and vote.
