I mean this is already unsurprising given how easy it was to get a blue checkmark as a journalist back when it was Twitter.

Literally any media corporation could get it for any of their employees. But for anyone else, you had to pay thousands to get a middleman who had a contact at twitter to verify you. It was such a weird system.

President Joe Biden on Wednesday said Egypt’s president has agreed to open a border crossing into Gaza to allow in 20 trucks with humanitarian aid.

Biden said he spoke with Egypt President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi after his visit to Israel, where leaders there agreed to allow the aid in.

“Sisi deserves some real credit because he was accommodating,” Biden told reporters.

20 trucks for 2 million people lmao. Sisi was accommodating because he’s skrub who doesn’t care lol.

Man I can’t wait 60 years for the DoD or CIA to declassify these documents that show otherwise.

Seriously you should check out some of the stuff the CIA has declassified. Some insane involvement and coverups of so many incidents, wars, overthrows, uprisiings, etc.

I even learned Chuck Yeager had his personal beechcraft bombed by the IAF, and he was so pissed that he listed it as a PAF loss in his 1971 war report lol. He also confirmed PAF’s 3:1 k/d, and interviewed all the captured IAF pilots.

All back when Nixon was running the show, so who knows what other stuff went down.

Closest and cleanest video of the attack: twitter.com/i/status/1714366113818038412

EDIT: Which was definitely not a failed missile launch

mlg,
@mlg@lemmy.world avatar

Lol no

It’s highly sophisticated defense products that are used for war and murder.

Also overpriced Lockheed junk lol

mlg,
@mlg@lemmy.world avatar

My dude live streams work in negative timestamps (T- from live feed), those numbers are useless.

The second video is also not useful without a geographical reference. It’s literally a video shot in the dark of a missile launch.

A much closer video shows an incoming whistle, not an outgoing sound: twitter.com/i/status/1714366113818038412

mlg,
@mlg@lemmy.world avatar
  • The first video shows multiple rockets and an explosion
  • The second video shows one with no explosion
  • The third shows one with an explosion in the air first

None of these videos line up with each other, so at least two of them must be irrelevant if not all three.

Meanwhile, the closest video shows an incoming whistle: twitter.com/i/status/1714366113818038412

It won’t get in unless Egypt opens their border which they won’t because they don’t care.

I don’t want to stop anyone from donating, but any supplies will likely sit in a depot until either sisi grows a pair (will never happen) or after the conflict is declared as over by Israel.

Or if by some miracle the USA convinces Israel to allow Egypt to open their border.

Small quantities of relief supplies do get smuggled occasionally, but without the border crossing, it won’t be enough.

For broader border context:

spoilerGaza borders Israel on all sides except southwest which it borders Egypt. Egypt does have the right to maintain their border crossing separately from Israel because they are obviously a different country. Israel won’t let any supplies though their side, which leaves Egypt’s border as the only viable option. But Israel will see this as Egypt getting involved, and will likely escalate by bombing southern Gaza (and the border) and maintaining air superiority over the border. Now if Egypt had a competent air force or military, they could get away with protecting their side of the border without starting a war by acting as a military pressure to Israel who wants the border closed. They don’t though, and they don’t really care that much about Gaza. They will opt to keep it closed because they don’t want to get involved with Israel at all. The only alternative would be if somehow a humanitarian agreement is made which Israel accepts, in which case Egypt wouldn’t have to defend their border so they would open it again.

Lmao, talk to any former ford employee and they’ll probably show the middle finger to the entire board if they could.

They run the layoff cycle literally every other year to cut costs whenever sales even hint at slowing down, all while paying CEOs massive money.

“Yeah we moved to mexico less than our competitors so that makes us better”

mlg,
@mlg@lemmy.world avatar

Man if only there was some way to protect the corridor by air.

You know like engaging in high stakes geopolitics and military showdowns.

Because Egypt definitely cares about the Palestinians and Gaza.

By then Android will have gone through 10 yearly API level updates.

Assuming no OS competitor appears (which I really hope it does) it’ll probably last 5 years if you keep it in a good condition.

But if you actually use it daily like a normal phone, then probably much less.

Google will drop support quickly for the next lineup, and they probably won’t even bother with any bugfixes after a year and half.

mlg,
@mlg@lemmy.world avatar

Still don’t understand the purpose of wayland besides cleaner code and easier updates for kernel level stuff.

X11 has been fairly updated with all the features people wanted and needed anyway. Just because no one uses all of its niche and antiquated plugins and extra stuff, doesn’t mean its inherently an outdated program.

mlg,
@mlg@lemmy.world avatar

No it won’t.

IDF is not the best ground fighting force in the world, but literally every other “military” force in the middle east is a joke.

Hezbollah isn’t even a real military, it’s a paramilitary. At most they’re going to amplify collateral if they get invovled.

Israel would face a significant threat if any competent force joined which doesn’t exist. Egypt’s army exists to earn money. KSA runs on USA military aid. Iran is outdated and doesn’t have any decent experience winning in a large scale war. Jordan doesn’t have a supply line. Iraq doesn’t have any interest either.

Even Hamas is a basically a rag tag team of urban dessert bandits, they have no supply line which is why they probably went for hostages.

And this is all ignoring the fact that the USA could easily get directly invovled in which case you will be orbitally nuked.

There’s even a joke/rumor that Egypt’s own generals provided the war intel on their bases and airfields to Israel because they had no real interest in actually fighting.

This is either going to be a slaughter in the Gaza strip, or a painful several weeks of high risk dense urban fighting assuming Hamas holds out (which they might be able to pull off).

No matter the situation, no one else is going to get invovled to a degree that it would make a difference.

mlg,
@mlg@lemmy.world avatar

Lol sure.

Egypt doesn’t even want to open their border and they have direct land access to Gaza.

I feel like it’ll actually be the other way around and the Palestinians will flee by breaking the fence.

    CNN could not independently verify that report, and Hamas said media reports about attacking children were false

    Late to the flame war in the comments but the #1 rule of OSINT is

    pics or it didn’t happen

    ignoring the fact that this is coming straight from the IDF and that CNN is already heavily pro Israel, it has been notoriously annoying to actually get raw footage or media on any of these events. Literally no one saw the video of Shani in the pickup truck, so everyone just assumed she had been beaten, murdered, and stripped naked because “India Now” said so.

    Now all of a sudden, she’s allegedly confirmed to be alive and a video of her at the concert also conveniently shows her wearing the same clothes as the one with the Hamas pickup truck.

    So all in all, a hostage being beaten was expanded to a citizen being killed and paraded naked because the internet is one giant continuous game of phone.

    Again, not saying this didn’t happen (because there’s a fair chance it did), but we really should not take anything at face value if none of these media outlets or sources are actually going to post the raw evidence (and in this case they don’t even have it).

    mlg,
    @mlg@lemmy.world avatar

    Ah see Hamas had the exact same problem so they probably used a 12ft ladder

    Iran" “Yeah yeah of course because I didn’t do nothing or see nothing”

    mlg,
    @mlg@lemmy.world avatar

    I think he mean in the sense of hostage negotiations.

    Practically speaking he’s right, Hamas got what they wanted by doing a day of raids for some bullet spray kills, a few IDF outposts, and taking hostages for negotiating power.

    Whether or not Israel will actually decide to negotiate for anything is another thing lol.

    Hindus in Pakistan

    Lol no. They keep close relations with the army for protection because they’re such a small minority. Meanwhile muslims in India face the stupidity of the BJP and muslims in Israel face the wrath of whosoever turn it is to go raid Al Aqsa again.

    Also it wasn’t Britain’s idea to split the country. That was a stance of the Muslims. Britain did exploit the tensions between them to prevent them from rebelling against the British Raj. Then they did a 180 when they no longer had a need to keep India under brutal occupation.

    All in all Pakistan and India came out far far better than Israel and Palestine.

    Hindus in conflict with ex-Hindus Straight outta r/Chodi lmaooooo

    mlg,
    @mlg@lemmy.world avatar

    lol you do realise that every pakistani was once a hindu?

    Punjabis and SIndhis sure, probably not Balochis or Pashtuns.

    Also you’re exclaiming this like it was a bad thing and people actually regretted converting. Trading a shitty caste system for not paying tax is a win-win.

    Like I said, something straight outta r/Chodi lol.

    Pros: Really useful AIO program that does everything Cons: Really useful AIO program that does everything

    Great example:

    Systemd makes it very easy to bring up DNS with systemd-resolved, and it bridges a gap from the old resolv.conf file and newer DNS standards n stuff.

    But then it also means that any alternative DNS clients have to tell resolvd to go away if they want to run, or often times make a systemd service to autostart with systemd and ensure it works perfectly with every possible systemd setup.

    There’s nothing inherently wrong with this method of having a centralized AIO thing that handles a a lot of stuff for you, but lots of early Linux people preferred the hardcore KISS principle and found it very beneficial to have everything neatly separated and modular with the service manager’s job to only start and stop services.

    Overall, systemd has been remarkably (and relatively) stable and beneficial which people thought would be impossible back when it became initially popular.

    Hahahahahahahaha hell no My Nvidia experience on windows required me to setup a whole ass nvidia account just to get access to the crappy nvidia software to install the drivers

    My Nvidia experience on fedora was sudo dnf install akmod-nvidia

    Not to mention the utterly useless auto driver install from windows which would either:

    • fail to find drivers meaning I had to go search for them on google
    • download the driver release from 2 years ago
    • use some generic Microsoft driver (goto option 1)
    • overwrite my manually installed latest driver (goto option 1)
