Prominent gender gaps in the results, which is entirely unsurprising (men much more likely to vote far right than women). I think the left-right breakdown could be more explicit too, as in many cases the left wing votes are being split between a bunch of parties, with the right wing settling on only one or two. That’s still in an issue in countries that use FPTP voting systems, of course.
We’d need per capita data over time for each age group to conclude that. Might be in the actual study, but it’s behind an absurd paywall (3000 UK pounds). I think it’s plausible that both groups have been increasing over time, but over 55s increased more. There is probably a hard limit on how many young people are going to enjoy gaming, whereas there is a lot of growth to be had in the over 55s group (as historically, few played games).
EDIT: Possibly it’s not exactly “live” and has a lag time of a few hours, at least going by the time written in the bottom left. Then the data is likely closer to correct.
Makes sense as Australia has the highest rooftop solar uptake in the world, and Queensland, the state I looked at, has IIRC the highest uptake within Australia. But agreed, it’s good to see global data even if it’s currently imperfect.
New South Wales councils that meet and beat new housing targets will be given extra cash for sporting facilities, parks, footpaths and road maintenance as part of the state government’s push to build nearly 400,000 new homes over the next five years.
It seems to be more that housing is already being built but that councils can’t afford to add the supporting infrastructure, so this will help with that. But this should also help with encouraging councils to meet those housing targets, when they know they’ll get additional funding.
On closer read, I see what you mean. I think this may be the key point:
The government will set aside $200m in grants to encourage the dozens of councils with updated local housing targets to do more; money will go only to the councils that meet “key milestones”.
I assume those key milestones would not mean they’ve already met the new targets, but have shown progress on them. So councils that aren’t making a sincere effort don’t get the extra funding. Would be nice to see more detail and what the milestones are.
It’s weird that there are any AC that can’t function in heating mode at this point. In Australia at least, you’d be hard pressed to even find one that doesn’t support heating.
If the existing A/C don’t support heating, then presumably heat pumps are displacing far inferior gas or resistive electric units (or even wood burning heaters). Heat pumps absolutely destroy them in terms of efficiency, and it’s hard to believe the embodied emissions plus ongoing emissions would be worse with a heat pump. And just as importantly, the fossil fuel industry needs to be made unprofitable as soon as possible, and anything that gets people off gas is therefore a good thing.

A lot less women drank back then from what I understand (and similarly it was women that led the movement against alcohol). Even in the mid to late 20th century the gender bias was toward men, but it’s pretty close to 50/50 in this century.
Whether suburbia independently increased alcohol consumption amongst women is another question, and so you’d need to compare drinking levels between different locations.
There are converters these days, albeit with some minor quirks. And they typically only use DP 1.4 anyway, although that’s enough for perceptually lossless 4k@120hz + HDR.
When you argue for housing reform to legalize denser development in our cities, you quickly learn that some people hate density. Like, really hate density, with visceral disgust and contempt for any development pattern that involves buildings being tall or close together.
President Joe Biden is taking fresh steps to help keep gas prices from climbing. For Republicans to see this as “disgusting” and “disgraceful” is bizarre.
And short of some absurd level of intervention from a conservative government, the grid is only going to get greener in the future, so an EV bought now will become progressively less carbon intensive over time.
