What do people today act like is new, when it's already have been a thing or already been around?

Gamers like to make it sound like $70 is a new thing today for video games. When, I've seen adverts of games back in late 90s and early 90s that were priced $70. It's always been around so I find it ridiculous that so many of them complain that the pricing is too high when, it's been a thing....

Kyre,

I vividly remember purchasing Final Fantasy 3 in the early 90 for $69.95. It was the first video game I purchased with my own money and it was like a years worth of allowance.

Kyre,

So Trump if he attains office. Got it.

Kyre,

Reminds me of CGP Greys' "The Rules for Rulers". It's just a matter of navigating the keys to power.

Kyre,

I Liked the comment but look at this guy's post history. Ya'll took the bait. Russian bot/troll/Pro Trump account that only spouts things such as "Liberal pussy foot neo-leftist commie bastard clown fart". 100's of short one line insane posts in the last hour alone.

Kyre,

Well.... I was not aware Chatgpt could make simple graphs.

Kyre,

I know but I was curious to see what it would do and was surprised that it produced a plot for me. Not sure why I'm surprised at this point.

Biden Transcript Calls Into Question Hur’s Memory Claims: The president was never even asked about the timing of his son’s death (www.thedailybeast.com)

A transcript from a special counsel’s interviews with President Biden about his handling of classified documents shows that the Democrat repeatedly insisted he never deliberately intended to retain sensitive files, according to reports, while also shedding light on some of the exchanges that led to a bombshell claim about...

Kyre,

My wife and I both forgot the year we were married during a conversation last week. It went a lot like the one in the transcript. "That was 2022? No wait, 2021? Let me pull up the pictures on my phone to see the date..".

We have only been married 3 years. To be fair, we have been together for 12.

Kyre,

I'm sure it's like pissing into the ocean but I went back and edited my most popular posts and replaced them with AI generated nonsense that is supposed to be difficult to classify for LLM AI's. I doubt it will have an effect but it would certainly be funny if you had enough people do it.

I guess because they are grammatically correct but contain paradoxes, ambiguity, and are utter nonsense.
Here are some samples:
"Silent thunder vibrates noiselessly through the colorful darkness, illuminating unseen sights with invisible light in a transparent fog."
"The invisible painting, clear as day, vividly colors the transparent wall, telling untold stories in a language never spoken."
"The motionless wind, still yet turbulent, swiftly calms the turbulent stillness of a restless peace in a serene tempest."

‘A Palpable Fear of Even Letting Your Friends Know You Are a Democrat’ (www.politico.com)

Something I’ve experienced traveling around the state is that there is a palpable fear of even letting your friends know you are a Democrat, or even in line with what Democratic politicians are doing. There’s vandalism that takes place here, and people are scared of that. Having your yard sign stolen or your flag taken down...

Kyre,

Yea, I feel so bad for the republicans who can't get dates because they are racist, homophobic, ignorant assholes. You are right, that's directly equal to physical harassment and abuse.

Kyre,

But appeasement doesn't work and that can be seen repeatedly in history. Try everything you can but at the end of the day, if both sides aren't trying for the same goal, it would be naive to not prepare for the alternative. Try for the best but prepare for the worst.

Kyre,

This is why I love this place. A very well-thought-out detailed response. I agree with you in most parts here but I do have, and I concede this could be irrational on my part, a fear of small-scale localized armed violence. It might not spread into something large but that doesn't matter if you become the victim of it.

All that said, I never have settled on my own personal opinion on the principle of always punch a Nazi. I’m very much on the fence on that one, and I think it comes down to how effectively boundaries have been communicated before enforcement begins, which will unfortunately vary case-to-case.

I think the rhetoric/idea of "always punch a Nazi" was effective at putting societal pressure on keeping people from becoming "nazis" or at least suppressing outward expressions of hate (or at least hate we all agreed upon as being "bad"). You are right in that this is an information war but the problem with information wars is that people tend to defer to confirmation bias and actively seek out the answers that align with their existing ideology.

Also, the Irony isn't lost on me that we are having this discussion on a site that leans very liberal so we do have our echo chambers as well.

Kyre,

Just ignore him. Look at his post history. He's clearly a troll. This guy is pro-russia, pro-trump, anti-vacc, and a conspiracy theorist. It's either the most pathetic "Engagement" bot ever, a russian troll sowing discord, or a seriously deranged individual whom we should pity. I think it's the second option as literally every one of his posts is a hot take that is the exact opposite of what everyone else is saying in the thread. But at least he's consistently on brand.

Kyre,

Just ignore them. Russian troll. They are just salty that they're now stuck buying Borscht Cola or whatever the hell russians drink when they run out of vodka. Also, he'll probably be dead in a year when they lower the draft age to 10 or however old he is.

Kyre,

These threads are great because it allows me to easily isolate, find and block the obvious trolls. Man, you and isthereany are so angry. Your post histories read like typical Youtube comments. Pot, kettle?

Kyre,

There aren't any laws pushing for it so isn't it just the free market economy at work? People want to see how clothes look on objects that look like them. Most people are ugly and overweight in the "western" world. Look, if changing what a model looked like moved the revenue needle one way or another, companies are going to do it.

Kyre,

Would you like to know which state has the most number of registered republicans? It's California. California just happens to be the most populous state with only 25% of it's populous being Republican. Voting absolutely matters and despite California being predominantly Democrat controlled, if regular people don't vote, these racist country destroying inbred fucks will.

Kyre,

I voted third party for the same reason. I thought Trump would do so many stupid things that the courts would actually put up guard rails and we would see some limits to the expanded power that the executive branch has been creeping into over the past few decades.

Kyre,

A well reasoned argument and a good point.

Kyre,

I have a high-stress job but I will say I look forward to my daily routine of coming home, changing into shorts and a t-shirt, and taking a few puffs from a cannabis vape pen while I listen to an audiobook and playing a mindless mobile game for an hour. It gets my mind right and helps me transition to home life.

Kyre,

They deserve the scrutiny and criticism regardless of their legal status. Anything they do at this point is suspect. If it was reversed and it was a court of all democrats, you better believe that a bunch of redneck fucktard assholes would be using their second amendment rights in an attempt to "fix" the court. With lifetime appointments, it doesn't leave much room for options.

Kyre,

It's so idiosyncratic that every single pizza place in the Western world has it on the menu.

Kyre,

That's actually pretty cool. I know it's popular to hate on AI but it is an accomplishment that it can do stuff like this.

Kyre,

I don't hate children but children under age 6-8 creep me out. I get a flight response when I am put into a situation where I have to be around a toddler or baby. I have always thought it was an uncanny valley thing though. As soon as they can make complete coherent sentences though, it's awesome. It's incredible to watch them learn, absorb, and have them experience new things.
