Congrats and good luck! I use Northspore for my oyster spawn, always been happy. Wine caps, or garden giants, are also an easy outdoor grow, available from Northspore. They like wood chips, so freshen up a bed or build a small pile for them.
Thanks! We were thinking about getting a set of oyster spawn plugs to try later in the summer - I have relatives who log for firewood, I think we might be able to convince them to let us plant mushrooms in the stumps. Otherwise we’ll wait and see how these go! Now that we know how to start these, we can keep an eye out for future opportunities.
It’s a lot of fun! And with how small the electronics are these days, there’s tons of space for a second purpose (storage, mini fridge, etc). It can also be done for very cheap (around $50), if you have the time and space to store up some materials.
Thanks! I linked the post itself to my movim blog, then in the paragraph figured I should point it at the system in general so people could join (I think you have to be local to SLRPNK.net to use it though) and then to imgur. I think in the future I’ll just link to my blog and skip the generic link.
My SO remembered what the cable I used for hanging the frame came from. It was attached to an HDMI adapter I pulled from ewaste - that’s how her company secures adapters to the conference tables so people won’t take them. When they upgraded they just clipped them off the tables.
Nice to see / read. The super glue trick is nice to know. I also wanted to mention that the collection of pictures on the bottom is broken when you open them on movim.slrpnk.net
Weird, thanks for letting me know, I suspect that’s a movim thing but I don’t see it in my end. I think they’re still doing updates so hopefully it’ll resolve soon. I’ll get it uploaded to imgur today or tomorrow too
