Nice!

My pick for this category is another collab: at this point it's practically become a meme among music blogs, but https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uWc4wMyL1oI, specifically for what happens once Prince takes the stage at ~3:30 and turns it into something unforgettable. (That guitar is not weeping gently!)

That was pretty good! And I like how at times they looked liked they were about to start laughing as Prince was stealing the show on a stage with already some very very famous musicians (but not that he could help it, I think that's just what usually happened whenever Prince appeared, well- anywhere).

She should talk to China directly. Also - she has made absolutely zero suggestions on how to actually do something against it, except basically stopping life.

rycee,

I'm pretty sure it is not her personal responsibility to solve the climate crisis on the behalf of the rest of humanity. That would probably be best left to various subject matter experts, which I believe she has said many times.

alwaysconfused,

Agreed. It seems all too common for people to think that those who point out issues are also responsible to have immediate solutions ready to go.

It’s necessary to have issues pointed out so that we, collectively, can discuss the issues to work towards potential solutions. This world and all that humanity has created is far too complex to expect one person to do all the work.

If the expectation of a person who points out problems is to have the answer, then no conversation is being held. Instead we are just shifting blame and responsibility while continuing on a flawed or destructive path.

@itchy_lizard ahhh OK that makes sense. I’m still getting used to this! I tend to sort by new still and got confused about seeing it a few times.

@itchy_lizard is it me or did this thing get posted to like 13 different subs in less than a minute

itchy_lizard, (edited )

I posted it to all relevant lemmy communities, yes. Unfortunately it took longer than a minute.

One annoying thing about Lemmy is that there's currently no way for the same community (eg a "linux" community) on different instances to actually be one super-community (I know there's a feature request for this though).

Consequently, you have to post it to what is essentially the same community but on multiple different instances. And with IP rate limiting, that's annoyingly slow to do.

I like some classical music (more than average, but not an aficionado, a lot of it sounds very samey to me, but some pieces move me to my very core), more of a metal and punk guy, but Diana Damrau in Die Zauberflote will always be one of my favourite stage performances in general.

I’m aware of the technical skill required to sing the part (especially the aria), but to do it so cleanly, even the staccato on the higher notes, and look like it’s effortless, but look so menacing… Just wow. Ik that for classical music folks that is a very cliche take but wtv.

@Moonguide okay I just saw a bit and that was really neat. I think I'm going to have to watch the whole thing soon.

I really like this performance of this wavey spacey jazz fusion: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ClVvC0CKM3Y
Oscar Jerome might get me into the genre. Just ethereal

@trent that's neat. It kind of goes all over the place but still comes back together. I'm gonna rewatch it again soon.
