So, I see the downvote, but like. IP addresses (at least V4 before someone comes in all pedantic like) are done in four octets of 8 bits each. That leaves a maximum of 11111111 (255) in each octet for valid addresses between 0.0.0.0->255.255.255.255 with several subsets within dedicated to specific routing purposes at various levels.
A hidden IP, or a masked IP? Sure, maybe you had a VPN to hide your address somewhat, and a burner email. That's not all it takes to be anonymous on the internet, nor is it particularly safe as even basic measures. More importantly, posting about it publicly isn't exactly the best Opsec either.
I'm not trying to call someone out for acting a fool. I am, however, trying to find out what they think they mean by Fake IP address because the only thing less safe than being insecure, is being insecure and thinking you're safe.
And then when they inevitably get found out and scatter, use the reputation you have to keep lurking among them. Lull them into a false sense of security while exfiltrating useful information outside.
This may sound fun but I'd recommend instead trying to use your platform here for good rather than for causing harm. I'm not sure what you mean exactly when you say "messing with them", but may I suggest attempting to understand where they may be coming from and helping to do some of the following:
Illustrate where their thinking may be wrong from the point of view or understanding where they are coming from.
Demonstrate the damage the way of thinking may cause on other, helping them to empathize (sort of a "if you were criticized for your skin color, how would you feel?") type of approach
Converse about specifics that help to understand the intents of the actions rather than focusing solely on the actions to illustrate that they may not be heading in the direction they believe
This may sound a little preachy, but that's what you need to avoid doing. Don't be another reason they feel justified. Don't tell people what to do, demonstrate empathy and assistance. Of course, be cautious of the things they say as someone pointed out in another thread recently: the concepts tend to prey on people seeking simple solutions to larger problems. Understand that this is often where people come from when acting irrationally. Take the extra time to think about what you are reading and saying, no matter who it is to or with.
Fascists will not engage in good faith. There is no getting through to them because they are not paying any more than the slightest attention to what you're saying
While I kind of understand the allure of messing with idiots, I think it's also a waste of time.

Oh I've had a dumb idea kicking around for a while that's pretty much hitler was trans because they only found a female skull (or some nonsense) and then lead to asking how many other historical figures might there be. Only thing is I'm not sure if that would make them be more violent to trans people or if they would just find some other dumb excuse

I have a customer at work who's a hard core qanoner and I've been debating getting a fake number and texting them things. I won't because they are unstable, but fuck me these people are so easy to manipulate.
