Hiker_Scott,

We just finished off a two-week camping trip in the in Oregon. It's the area surrounding and including . A thread:

It was nice!

Dawn and I are spoiled by playing in the North Cascades, BC's Coast Mountains the Kananaskis and the Rockies though so the more gentle rolling mountains of the area were less engaging then we were used to.

We also had a new tent, details in this thread:

Hiker_Scott,

For the most part, the scenery was pleasant. As mentioned the mountains mostly resemble rolling hills, and the trails were benign.

We couldn't find a truly difficult leg stretcher or "grind", though we were limited by the shrinking amount of daylight this time of year.

A set of green rolling mountains are in front of a bank of fog. In the distance is a mountain with a classic volcano shape.
Two dead standing trees are in the foreground of a carpet of forest, mixed burned area and new growth, in front of some more prominent mountains
A variety of arid-area bushes of various colors are in the foreground of a sunset picture, the sun setting behind some green-covered mountains

Hiker_Scott,

The biggest highlight of our trip was one trail south of Ashland near the end of our trip, Wagner Butte.

By this time we had lowered our expectations for most trail descriptions in the area and even as we approached the end we thought that it would be another "ho hum" trail.

Instead there was a bit of a scramble up large boulders to a proper 360° view, enhanced by fog. Yay!!!

A few trees are spotted behind large boulders in the foreground. Behind them, below, is clouds obscuring forests.

Looking from one mountain top to another forested mountain top that peaks of through the clouds.

Hiker_Scott,

On a couple of days I did some experiments, one with shadows (mostly my own). No filters or any post processing on this.

Silhouette of a hiker against leaves
Silhouette of a dog but his foot is still in the picture because for the love of him I can't get him to stay still
Silhouette of a man

jfmezei,

@Hiker_Scott : I like your shadow in pic 3 :-)
