Having a bad experience with some glasses I bought from Zenni... I've bought a few sets of glasses there, often the frames are cheap, but they're also of low quality. Cracks. Finishes or rubber peeling off. Hinges never seem quite right.
I think I'll go back to Costco, it will coordinate with my head-to-toe Kirkland look anyway.
@johnefrancis Why not something like Eyebuydirect? I bought the cheapest set I could for something like <$10 to make sure it wasn't going to give my face leprosy or something, and then went and bought something a little bit better afterward.
@PatrickoftheG I dunno, I might be done with US discount eyewear retailers. I also see eyebuydirect is HQ'd in Texas, and I'm not particularly interested in sending business to Texas. There are a lot of players in online eyewear.
@PatrickoftheG I mean, it's not a complete barrier to business like Florida. But I definitely think twice about it if I see something come from the US "south".
But it also could be that me (and others) not doing business there makes the problem (slightly) worse, since hate breeds in an environment of economic insufficiency.
Maybe I should buy my glasses from a traditional small business optician and make their day.
@johnefrancis I can't judge a man for how and where they choose to spend their money. Especially since it's a good reason.
I am not sure I have the amount of disposable income to burn on spending it at a small business optician though, with their markup I feel like they are on the level of criminals. They are the kinda of scoundrel Galen aspires to be with his gouging.
