Did you know that the sad #dog scene in #Futurama is based on a real story?

In 1923, in Akita prefecture, #Japan, an Akita Inu puppy was born & adopted by a professor. He named him Hachiko.

Daily, Hachiko waited for his friend at the train station in #Shibuya. But 16 months later, the prof died.

Hachiko started to go to the station to wait for his friend to return.

People noticed & started to leave food, donations were raised...

...& upon his death, a statue was raised for his
#loyalty.
